Rare richstowe Posted November 1, 2011 Author #26 Share Posted November 1, 2011 It seems that CCers don't believe stewards treat people differently based on cabin category as the review I quoted stated . What about other staff. Review mentioned a lousy MDR location. Does staff know your cabin "status". Do they care?

What about other staff. Review mentioned a lousy MDR location. Does staff know your cabin "status". Do they care? Nonsense again. On our last family cruise, in April on the Independence, we weren't even ASSIGNED a dining table. How's that for bad service? Took a long time to straighten out the mess - first they assigned us a lousy location with a bad waiter, then they did nothing. We had to work to be assigned to MTD as a last resort. I am high D+. JMB22 Posted November 1, 2011 #28 Share Posted November 1, 2011 Other than the extra perks of a suite, no, I do not think the type of room someone has will dictate the service they get. Other than one cruise, I've always had really great stateroom attendants. I've stayed in inside, oceanview, balcony, and now my first suite this winter. I'm so thankful for them! I don't have to make my bed or vacuum for a whole week! :D
TomCat32174 Posted November 1, 2011 #29 Share Posted November 1, 2011 I was reading a review by nw_man who had been on a Med cruise on the Mariner.(Weirdo that I am ,I am still reading reviews of my ship/cruise) He had an inside cabin and suggests that he got inferior service because of this. He says that when they ran out of shower gel, they reserved it for higher level cabins. Also an inferior table in MDR was provided perhaps because of this. I am NOT slagging him or for that matter agreeing. What do you guys think, does your cabin level impact the level of service you receive? Did he also have to row with the rest of the passengers who had inside cabins? OleMissMom Posted November 2, 2011 #30 Share Posted November 2, 2011 We've had inside rooms up to suites. The worst cabin steward we ever had was when we were in the Owners Suite.

Sounds like a chronic complainer and whiner. Don't believe this post for one second, sorry
AlanFromFL Posted November 2, 2011 #32 Share Posted November 2, 2011 I've never considered that generic-y shower gel a 'perk', more like 'punishment'. So I coudl personally take it or (more precisely), leave it. But seriously folks, about half of our cruises have been inside cabins...and we've had consistently good service, regardless of cabin class or location. I'm calling "TROLL" on this one... tbruin3235 Posted November 2, 2011 #33 Share Posted November 2, 2011 I would think that the best steward in the eyes of RCI would be doing Grand to Royal Suite you would not put your average steward looking after these cabins after all you have payed a hefty premium for the cabin, and i would guess you would get the best seats/table in the MDR, going by P&O back 10 years ago we were in suites and anything we asked for we got, after all we were paying £3000 pp So there is a difference in the Royal Suite and inside cabin from the staff attention point of view and bars etc etc I sailed in the Royal Suite a few years ago, and my cabin steward was one of the worst I've ever had. He would never have my cabin made up until after lunch (even with the "please make up room" sign on the door). When I asked him if he could get the room made up early, he made up all sorts of excuses as to why he couldn't. I think he just didn't want to have to get up early. The documentation in the cabin listed the hours the cabin steward would provide service, and they didn't jive with what my steward told me were his working hours (his working hours were considerably shorter than the posted hours). I never got some of the things I asked for either, be it extra towels or batteries for the TV remote. I also never received a room service order I had placed (I waited in the cabin for 2 hours, and finally gave up and went to the buffet to get something to eat). So service can be hit or miss no matter which cabin category you have.

What about other staff. Review mentioned a lousy MDR location. Does staff know your cabin "status". Do they care? I usually ask for a large table at dinner and get assigned to one. I´ve never had a table with only suite occupants, it´s usually people from all kind of cabin levels. So with people in insides and suites dining at the table I doubt they asign the tables based on cabin category. Having said that I never had a lousy table location in the MDR and I´ve been all over from right at the entrance against a wall to window location, middle of the room, back of the room next to galley entrance..... Well probably for some I´ve had lousy table locations;). I once thought about asking for a different table because of the location. I didn´t and it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I ever had.

You are calling someone a troll because they complained about not having shower gel?A petty complaint, absolutely. Did you bother to read the review? I don't actually believe room class has any significant effect on the service you receive like the reviewer but they seemed sincere. You are pretty quick to call someone a troll. ehfl Posted November 3, 2011 #36 Share Posted November 3, 2011 We generally book inside cabins. We have generally had good service from cabin stewards and in the dining room. I don't think it's been any better or worse when we booked balcony. We've had some nice window seats in the dining room, even without asking. In general, I think service is most dependent on how friendly you are towards the staff. If they like you, they will give you good service.
