Just a few questions, please

Wow! What a great site. I discovered this site a couple of weeks ago and I cannot get enough! My family and I will be on Caribbean Princess April 23.

I know, for the most part, you'd perfer it if I used the search option, but when I did I got no results, sorry. Not to mention that with 83 pages of Princess posts, it just is not possible to read it all, I'm doing good to keep up with the current days messages.

The last few times that we've traveled, I've not locked my luggage for the airport with no issues. What about for the pier? Do they prefer the luggage to be unlocked? I really like the idea of the zip ties, never heard of using those before.

Does it HAVE to be a credit card to lock and unlock the safe in the cabin or will any card with a magnetic stripe work? I'd rather use something like my grocery store saving card, that is no big deal if it comes up missing.

Thank you so much for providing such a great tool for those of us that can never get enough information!

It is best to lock your bags as soon as you retrieve them, or use the TSA-approved locks that are now available. You should, of course, pack any items that cannot be replaced in your hand luggage.

The safe locks require a number-code only. Just make sure you remember what it is when you set it.

Smurf1635: Welcome to the CC boards. Spongebob answered your current questions. Feel free to keep them coming. Sometimes the search is difficult. Most CC members do not mind duplicate questions. It gives us something to do while waiting for the next cruise;-) I will not be on the CB until December, so please take good care of her later this month.

If you haven't chosen your shore excursions yet, you may want to review the "Ports of Call" section on the main CC page to get some feedback on each of your port calls. Hope you have a great cruise!

I plead guilty... I've never locked my luggage for either airlines or cruises and never had a problem although I did buy the cable ties and plan to use them on my upcoming cruise. Locking is a personal preference; being unlocked is not a requirement by the cruiselines.

As for the safe, it's electronic. When you get onboard, you decide what 4 digits you want and that's what you set for the safe. Every time you open and close the safe, you "set" the code, i.e., reset the safe code.

Thanks so much! I've never stayed anywhere that I didn't have to keep track of a safe key or have my credit card handy to swipe in the safe. This will be a pure luxury.

I've already made reservations (I think, I haven't heard back from him yet) with Godfrey. He's come highly recommended by many in various sites. St. Maarten will be a water taxi, bum around day. Really looking forward to checking out the casinos there.
