Are they planning on changing it with new smoking rules?

These are our 3rd and 4th Pembrokes, they sure are wonderful loyal dogs. :)

They're the best. There have been conflicting reports, but it sounds like the sportsbar and at least parts of the casino are going to remain smoking....

The Sports bar on Valor is non-smoking.

Effective June 15, 2011, cigarette smoking in public venues will only be permitted in Carnival’s dance clubs as well as in designated areas within the casino and casino bar.

Smoking (including cigars) will be permitted in designated exterior open deck areas (starboard side) of all our ships. Additionally, smoking will also be allowed in the jazz clubs of the following ships: Carnival Destiny, Carnival Triumph, Carnival Victory, Carnival Spirit, Carnival Pride, Carnival Legend, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Glory, Carnival Valor, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Freedom, and Carnival Splendor.

* All Spa suites and staterooms, inclusive of the balconies, are an entirely smoke-free environment.

* Effective December 1, 2011, smoking will be prohibited in all guest staterooms. Guests in balcony staterooms may smoke (including cigars) outside on their balcony.

Guests who smoke in their staterooms will be assessed a $250 cleaning and refreshing fee on their Sail & Sign account. Information on this fee is included in Carnival’s ticket contract.

Note: Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are only allowed in the designated smoking areas.

That's funny. We were on Liberty Sept 9th and there was no smoking in the sports bar.

One guy lit up and everybody turned around and looked at him.

He didn't know it was non smoking and took it out into the casino to smoke.

The funny thing about the smoking in the casino is you can smoke at certain machines if you are playing but not if you are just watching somebody at a smoking machine.

We were on the 24th. I thought the casino was funny as well beacause the 'non-smoking' area was still within a cloud of smoke. Oh well, I stay out of there anyway. I was also by one of the bars by a lido pool where there was no smoking sign up, some guy lights up and the bartender points at the sign. The guys says "I'm not trying to hear that" goes right on smoking and the bartender says nothing else.

Is there still smoking allowed in the sports bars?

There was no smoking in the Liberty's sports bar last week. If you want to smoke and see the game, you could just step out and stilll look in and watch the game from the Casino.

10/16 on Glory - sports bar off the casino was non-smoking, while the casino itself was still about 80% smoking. There were PLENTY of people just standing/sitting in the casino who were not playing but were smoking.

They need to totally rearrange the machines and tables and have the smoking area of the casino by the smoking section of the bar.

Sure hope the sports bar on Fascination is now non-smoking. But since the Fantasy-class ships don't technically HAVE a sports bar, we'll see.

Anyone been on a Fantasy-class ship and can tell me? I'm talking about the bar that is above the entrance to the aft dining room - Promenade deck.

OK, looking at the deck plans, it's called the Beverly Hills Cigar Bar. Oh well. Sure would be nice to be able to watch some sports and not have an asthma attack. I know. Just stay in my cabin, right?
