wrg11 Posted November 3, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 3, 2011 Any recommendations for pre-cruise hotel in FLL? It looks like our flight will be getting in verylate so we don't need anything too fancy. Thanks in advance.
cruisingallover Posted November 3, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 3, 2011 You may have better luck at the Florida forum. Having said that we always stay at Hyatt Pier 66.
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 3, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 3, 2011 There are so many to consider. Embassy Suites is a popular choice as is Hyatt Pier 66. If you want to be on the beach, consider the Lago Mar Resort. Keith
royalcruz Posted November 4, 2011 #4 Share Posted November 4, 2011 The Sleep Inn in Dania usually has about the best rates and has free shuttles and breakfast. If you need a place with a free 24 hr airport shuttle, the Holiday Inn Express on SE 17th St has it.
subtchr Posted November 4, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 4, 2011 We are also arriving in FLL late the night before our cruise, but we are early risers who will enjoy a walk on the beach the next morning before heading to the port. I found the Westin Beach Resort on Hotwire for a great price, just under $100. We will have to take a cab from the airport to the hotel, but we have a family member picking us up the next day to take us to the port.

We would like to be within walking distance of some restaurants and shops. Also, is there much of a time difference in getting to the port from these hotels? These are both about the same time/distance from the port. Springhill has many more more shops (nothing fancy, Marshalls and Kmart etc) and restaurants (fast food and casual chains like Ale House and Fridays) near it, although it is a slightly longer walk to the shopping center and across a busy street. Sleep Inn has Publix, Walgreens, and 2 casual locally owned restaurants (Italian and Mexican) next door across a side street.

royalcruz Posted November 5, 2011 #10 Share Posted November 5, 2011 Thanks! We switched to the Sleep Inn since it also looks like a quieter location. Have you been to either of these restaurants? I've eaten at Poncho's Backyard Mexican. I had grilled fish with a salad...it wasn't great but it was good (I just wanted something healthy)...a lot of people eat here weekly because they love the Mexican food. Sleep Inn is quieter, as the Springhill is on a busier road right next to I-95 and lots of hotels.
Sherri1 Posted November 6, 2011 #11 Share Posted November 6, 2011 MartinsCruise, We are also from Pennsylvania :)) Have stayed at Sleep Inn several times, and will do so again in Feb. Restaurants right across the street , Italian, and Spanish/Mexican. Also Walgreens and Publix, Chinese takeout , laundry , nail salon and Dollar Store. Perfect location for pre-cruise. If you're planning on grabbing a bite to eat after landing, make sure you book a place that has an onsite restaurant or restaurants that are nearby that are open late. On our first cruise, we were delayed and didn't get to our hotel until after midnight. We didn't know everything in the area closed at midnight and DH had to walk through a McDonald's drive thru to get us something to eat. He was not happy - to put it mildly. Yes, and don't expect to find any food at the airport. I'm not sure what time the concessions close but it isn't late.
eandj Posted November 6, 2011 #14 Share Posted November 6, 2011 You might want to grab a sub or something at the airport (after going thru TSA) before you take off and throw it in your carry on if arriving too late to find anything open nearby. Sherri It's good to hear that you stayed there and are planning on staying again. Does anyone know if we can buy wine to take onboard at any of these places? Kmart across from Springhill has a small selection...BJ's has a nice selection if you have a membership.
