Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me ..do the ships offer free shuttle services into town from Dunedin ..Napier ..Bay of Islands ..Tauranga ...and if NOT free what is the cost :confused: { Princess Cruises }

going back awhile Napier and Bay of Island were free and the others you had to pay...not sure of cost as they may have gone up in price from 2 years ago

We have done the Au/Nz cruise several times over the last few years and I dont think there has one cruise where the shuttles have all been the same as the cruise before.

One year it will be free, perhaps put on by the local Lions or Business Group,or even the port itself, then the next year there would be a charge....One year the shuttle would be a return fare, next a charge each way......so YES there are shuttles in the Au and NZ ports , and you will be notified once on board , as to how they are going to operate for your ships call.

Once when in Dunedinon on Star Princess we were charged a fee for the shuttle, whille the other ship in port , P&O's Artemis , had a free shuttle provided....:confused:

we were on the Sun Princess in Feb 2011.

these are the prices of the shuttles on our cruise....

Dunedin....A$10 or NZ$15 for the trip to the city and back to the ship

Wellington...NZ$10 for the trip to the city and back to the ship. it was a 15 minute walk in to the city centre....doable

Napier...free shuttle service into town

Tauranga...we were provided a fee shuttle service into town by one of the local shops. we were docked close to Mt Manganui and the shops there were within walking distance and they were just as good as the ones in Tauranga

Bay of Islands....no need for a shuttle as the tenders come in at Paihia

Auckland....docking right in the centre of the city...so convenient!!

hope you have a great time.
