What should we do?

Looking for something to do with my mom for the day in st Maarten. She is almost 80. She walks just fine but I don't want her walking too much and getting worn out. We would like to shop a little and maybe hit a beach. If we go to the beach we would like one that is easy to walk on. Or at least a narrow beach - walking on sand can be difficult. I was thinking about a tour with bernard but I think that might be too long for her.

Philipsburg without a doubt..really not much shopping in Marigot but do visit Sarafinas Bakery in Marigot..:)

My suggestion would be to take the water taxi from the pier to the boardwalk in Philipsburg and spend time shopping and beaching there. That way you aren't going too far and if she gets tired it's a quick trip back to the ship....
