Yukon Posted April 7, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2005 I LOVE Prince Rupert! http://www.explorenorth.com/library/communities/canada/princerupert.html , http://www.citytel.net/library/our_town_stuff/99things.html and http://www.tourismprincerupert.com/ Murray

calmac Posted April 7, 2005 #4 Share Posted April 7, 2005 We were considering the 1 hour flightseeing tour "Misty Mountains Fjord Tour" with Inland Air from Prince Rupert (CAD$225). Has anyone done this or any other trips with this company?
Yukon Posted April 7, 2005 #5 Share Posted April 7, 2005 Any flightseeing trip is a good flightseeing trip, IMO. Inland has beautiful aircraft - my choice was to join one of their regular flights to get an up-close look at coast life rather than a broad view. I see that they now call it "A Bush Pilot Cruise" on their Web site - http://www.inlandair.bc.ca Murray
bearbait Posted April 7, 2005 #6 Share Posted April 7, 2005 I spend at least a 3 or 4 days there every summer on my way to and from Ketchikan. That's where you get on the Alaska State Ferry at. I, for one, don't care for Prince Ruppert. It's a fairly dirty town with too many drunks stumbling around. Hopefully, they will do a better job of cleaning it up this year. Yukon Posted April 7, 2005 #7 Share Posted April 7, 2005 >>It's a fairly dirty town with too many drunks stumbling around.<< I don't know where you're hanging out, but neither my partner nor I have had any such experiences in our visits - neither the dirt nor the drunks. If you want to see drunks hanging around the streets, go to Whitehorse! :( Murray
calmac Posted April 7, 2005 #8 Share Posted April 7, 2005 Thanks for the information about Inland, Murray. On reading the description on the website I think our 9 year old son might like the idea of delivering the mail by plane! I'll contact the company and check that this would be available when we are in Prince Rupert (July 9th). Thanks, not just for this but for all the other very useful information you provide on these boards.
DoctorTom Posted April 7, 2005 #9 Share Posted April 7, 2005 Has anyone done any of the "bear" excursions out of Prince Rupert? We will be there on the RSSC Mariner on June 3. The excursions looked interesting, but are expensive. Are the bears out and about in May?
bearbait Posted April 7, 2005 #10 Share Posted April 7, 2005 Sorry to offend you Murray, I usually come through there before and after cruising season. Usually stay at one of the hotels right there in town by the mall or by Tim Hortons. Maybe they clean it up for cruise season, I don't know. But I have seen plenty of both. Just calling it like I see it without any sugar coating.
BCHappyGal Posted April 8, 2005 #11 Share Posted April 8, 2005 Dear Bearbait Prince Riupert has always been a clean friendly town. Yes as in any city you have a few less desireables - but remember where ever you are on earth - it will always be "WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT" . Prince Rupert is a beautiful little city especially when the sun shines on it!
