kazbar Posted November 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2011 Hi :) Do Carnival offer many cruises that start and finish in different ports? I understand that there is the Jones Act to take in to consideration but do they ever do then except for the repositioning cruises? If yes, is there an easy way to find them on the website? From Los Angeles or San Diego to Hawaii. It stops in Ensenada. On the Carnival site, just enter 'Hawaii' in the Cruise Search parameters.

5waldos Posted November 26, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 26, 2011 Thanks :)Do you know if they do any on the East coast? Don't they go NYC to Montreal, then return? Too lazy to check.
S.S.Oceanlover Posted November 26, 2011 #6 Share Posted November 26, 2011 Thanks :)Do you know if they do any on the East coast? I don't think that's possible as they would have to visit a distant foreign port first. Bill

I am looking to find a cruise that starts in one east coast port, goes to an international port (to satisfy the Jones act) and then returns to a different US port
cb at sea Posted November 26, 2011 #8 Share Posted November 26, 2011 There are Panama Canal cruises that start on either the East or West Coast and end on the other side.....different U.S. ports, with stops in other countries!

They call them Transition cruises. I am on one on Monday leaving Long Beach and ending up in Tampa, Fl. it is a 14 day Cruise. Many of the cruise lines have them. Good luck. :)

Besides, such cruises would not be very popular. Airfare would be more expensive for those who fly, and such a cruise would be of no interest to those that drive to ports. big_duck Posted November 26, 2011 #14 Share Posted November 26, 2011 They are quite popular, due to the low cruise fare. Or the cruise fare is low because they aren't popular. I take it your examples are re-positioning cruises?
DaytonCruiser Posted November 26, 2011 #15 Share Posted November 26, 2011 Or the cruise fare is low because they aren't popular. I take it your examples are re-positioning cruises? Yes, Royal and NCL have several repo cruises, because they just dont have a fleet to match Carnival Corp. They have to move the ships anyway, so the price reflects that. Carnival chooses to sail their ships empty, when they move from one east coast port to the other. With the exception of Victory 3 years ago, probably because Puerto Rico is exepmt from the PVSA.
