Questions about getting on/off ship at ports

Hi everyone,

Sorry if this is a silly question but I have my first cruise coming up in Feb. We have some excursions planned for some days so we will be getting off right when we can and going on our way. My questions is for those off days - do you have to get off the ship when it docks in order to go through security..etc? Or could you sleep in and then get off later in the morning or even afternoon for a quick trip.

Thanks!

You can get off the ship at any time. In fact, you can easily get on and off more than once a day. Some people take a morning excursion, go back on board for lunch, and get off again for sight-seeing or shopping. Sleep as late as you want and get off when you want. Just make sure to be back by the "all aboard" time.
