bepsf Posted December 10, 2011 #51 Share Posted December 10, 2011 It's out of the way. There's no entertainment or music up there. It's not well suited for large groups due to the "cabana" seating arrangement with the chaises which are uncomfortable for more than 2. The bar, placed opposite the single entrance to Tamarind, blocks the views and patrons seated there with their backs to the entrance makes it feel unwelcoming. IMO - the room should be redesigned with the bar against the back wall, and tables & chairs at the windows where everyone can look out over the views. Some soothing Asian/Fusion/Lounge recorded music would give it a something-special vibe, and the central interior staircase up to the roof could make that little-used outdoor area more inviting as well. macky2 Posted December 11, 2011 #52 Share Posted December 11, 2011 We are just back from a week on the Eurodam and we spent time in the Silk Den twice for drinks before eating at the Tamarind. It was lovely and quiet. We had a very attentive server who brought us sushi and nuts with our drinks. It is a bit out of the way and we would probably not think to go there if we were not eating at the Tamarind. Kathy (macky2)

Yes, that's a real good suggestion.. Putting the bar where the "cabanas" are would be great! The bartender would have a great view! If you put mirrors behind the bar, everyone would get a great view! I love the rooftop bar suggestion... especially at night! It would also make the far side of the bar more inclusive... and create a larger-feeling venue. Brian, I'm going to have to send you some pictures of my living room to get some ideas!
m steve Posted December 11, 2011 #54 Share Posted December 11, 2011 It's not convenient to other dining rooms. Since it is on the top deck, maybe they could have a well ventilated smoking area and business might pick up or have an outdoor seating area. SabreSailor Posted December 12, 2011 #55 Share Posted December 12, 2011 Some folks in this thread have mentioned the view from the Silk Den. If you're there during daylight hours, your only real view is of the cabanas and either the top of the Lido pool roof, or worse, having to look at the walruses in the Lido pool. At night, there's little to see. Just another reason that I think it was not a well-thought out venue....

chrispb Posted December 13, 2011 #57 Share Posted December 13, 2011 If it's so far away from everything - except The Tarmarind - then they could turn it into a smoking bar, and I don't just mean for hookahs. Doesn't sound like many non-smokers would even miss it.
