krkheffe Posted December 16, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 16, 2011 We had a great time on the POA Dec. 3-10th! I will be posting a review soon...hopefully...but trying to get ready for Christmas here. Jealous of everyone getting ready to go...but so thankful we had this experience. Worst part of the trip....flying home. Not just becaue we were going home, but because we flew all night and I couldn't sleep on the crowded plane. Although it was still tiring, when we flew to Honolulu at the beginning of the week, we flew all day and arrived late that evening. To me, that was better because we just went to bed soon after we arrived. Flying all night home was rough. Kelly
Umbarger Posted December 16, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 16, 2011 I hear you about the flight home. I can't sleep on crowded planes either and it makes it an exhausting trip. It's the only bad thing about going to Hawaii is the coming home flight.
Havin'fun Posted December 16, 2011 #3 Share Posted December 16, 2011 Can't wait to read your review. DH and I are sailing POA on Jan 14th and the time can't pass quickly enough! Hopefully the Christmas/New Years rush will make it go by quicker. We are also dreading the flight (from Michigan) even though we broke the bank and are flying 1st class it will still be a loooong flight

Economy plus, if it is a two seater is better than economy but not as good as first class! Flying back to Michigan will be more of a bear than flying westward! krkheffe Posted January 7, 2012 Author #11 Share Posted January 7, 2012 Looked at your review and pictures (beautiful) We are planning a cruise on POA. Is is important to have a balcony cabin? Or is there little time spent in the room? In my opinion you will not likely be in your cabin much at all. We were there to sleep only and change clothes etc. If I were you, I would save the $$ you would spend on a nicer cabin with a balcony or whatever and use it for excursions, car rentals, gifts, etc. Unless you are planning on spending more time in your room than we did, I believe you will be fine with a basic cabin. I imagine there are those out there that would disagree with me, but that is my opinion. If there were days at sea where you might relax in your room and enjoy a balcony, it may be different.
