Locked luggage????

This question might have already been asked, but I couldn't find it. Question is; If you are not flying but instead going directly to the pier, can yo lock your luggage or does the cruise ship still have to examine it?

Lock you checked luggage - some lines have dogs sniffing luggage for drugs and some xray locked luggage. Of course your carry ons will go through an xray machine similiar to the airports.

Wasn't planning on taking any carryon. Just a large tote with prescriptions and jewelry, stuff like that. Oh and a camera bag. I don't want to have to carry around a carryon if the cabin isn't ready when we embark.

I had a corkscrew in my checked luggage and the lock was cut by the airport. I replaced the lock with another and it was again cut between the time I handed it over to the guys at the dock and when it arrived at my cabin.

Getaway - Yes, Carnival says to lock your luggage before giving to the porters at the dock. All luggage goes through x-ray, whether it's checked or carry-on. By the way, your 'tote' is considered a carry-on.:)

Yes - lock your luggage.

There have been too many stories on the various boards about items missing from unlocked luggage.

And don't forget to lock your luggage at the end of the cruise as well.

does it the air line make you unlock, befor they will even take your bags so how can you lock it :confused:

We aren't traveling by airline, we are going directly to the dock. So it sounds like the consensus is to lock it. Thanks guys!
