So if you did not buy minutes but have an iPad or iPhone you can have it in airplane mode with wifi on and reach the princess site? Which then has this "free zone" through which you can send these free post cards? Do I have that right? Because I did not know about this and would love to send off a few to family to let them know we are doing well and keeping warm :D. This is the first time I noticed this on cruise critic.

You can definitely go to the Princess.com site via any wifi device without having to log into a purchased internet package. I haven't tried to get to the e cards thing from there via wifi but have noticed it on the Internet cafe computers. I would assume you can do e cards via wifi as well.

I assume this works on all Carnival owned cruise lines. We were recently in Europe with a HAL ship beside us. I accessed the HAL ships wifi without logging in. HAL wifi shows the ships itinerary on the log in screen so I was able to see where it had been and where it was going next.

We sent these free e-cards to friends and family. It was fun--we could pick the picture to be displayed on one side of the card and then type our message. The only glitch was that some of the ecards went to recipients' spam folders. It isn't a Princess thing, but know that your ecard might not be read unless the person knows to look out for it.

We used the wi-fi to access the Patter throughout our days on the ship. It was fast and free. It seems like people are confused about this free "intranet" access and the paid "internet" access.
