Liberty New Years Cruise Balconies & more

Recommended Posts

Just returned from a great cruise on Liberty of the Seas.

Embarkation was quick and smooth, debarkation the exact opposite, we were late coming into port due to bad weather, so debarkation was delayed by 30 minutes, according to the tv screens around the ship, in actuality, out tag was called an hour after the revised time and then started a long line for Customs and Immigration, there were only 5 agents for the entire ship, and waiting in line outside the terminal in 40* weather with strong winds, was not fun. Allure was also in port that day, so I suspect a lot of the agents were over there instead.

Balconies. We asked our stateroom attendent to open the balcony divider, she informed us that she could not do that for safety reasons, we later asked at the front desk and was told the same thing, so just unlocked it ourselves but made sure it was slid shut when we left the room. Worked well for us. They also varnished the railings on day 2, no note or anything was left in the cabin and the varnish was still tacky the day we got off:mad:

Was also suprised at the smoking venues, Hoof and Claw, Boleros, Catacombes, Pool Bar, sky Bar and 80% of the casino were all smoking venues, along with the port side of decks 4 and 12

Food was good throughout, and service was excellent, to the extent that we gave both our waiter and assistant waiter a WOW card. The windjammer was busy but not too hard to find a seat except on debarkation morning, was suprised that Chops allowed suite guests to take windjammer food in there during breakfast and lunch, but Portofino was not open for the D and D+ guests as I have seen on other ships. There was also no D+ line at guest services like there is on Freedom.

Falmouth had changed a lot since we were there in July, most of the shops are now open and we docked at the opposite pier to July.

Great party for New Years eve, with free champagne, countdown and balloon drop on the promenade.

Any questions I will be happy to try and answer

I have to agree about debarkation. With over 25 cruises taken, this was latest we have ever gotten off. Glad I was not waiting to embark-LOL- We did not get off ship until a bit after 11am, and didn't leave the port until 12:15pm

RCI varnished the railings on our balcony on the Liberty a couple of weeks ago. Our balcony had a scotch taped sign on the glass below the railing that warned that it had been varnished--but we didn't see it until AFTER we touched the railing--a sign on the balcony door would have been a lot easier to spot.

I'm surprised at the large number of smoking venues on Liberty. I was on Freedom back in October and Boleros was non smoking, pool bar was non smoking, and the outside smoking areas were on the starboard side deck 4 and on Decks 11, 12, and 13.

Both same class of ship but quite different set ups smoking wise.

Chops or portofino is available to suite guests for breeakfast and lunch on ships with these restuarants. Not sure if D or D-plus have this perk avaiable to them, maybe someone else can verify. I am diamond and dont remember having that option when in windjammer.
