Prohibition party on allure

Recommended Posts

I've read a little about this party, but haven't seen a lot out there. We decided to sign up for this, but wanted to hear from anyone that has attended this. What are your thoughts? I love that it's limited to a certain amount of guests and the secrecy involved to enter sounds exciting. Can't beat all alcohol is included! What all happens at the party? Can't wait to find out myself, but curious to others' experience.

Haven't heard of this yet. DO you know if they do it on the Oasis?

I am booking the Allure for November and this sounds very interesting

We are on the Allure 26 Feb and someone on our roll call posted an interesting scenario that happens leading up to the party (so if you want to read that post - its there about pg 10 or so). Sounds fun. The party actually opened up in the entertainment reservation system and we booked immediately. That's about all I know for now....:)

I'm also on the Feb 26 sailing and I had first read about it on the roll call thread, that's what sparked our attention. I read that it's limited to 50 people and it's a party 20's style. Alcohol and snacks are included and from what I gather on the thread, it's quite exciting. I also did read that they are doing it on the Oasis. You can reserve this under specialty dining on the Royal Caribbean site. I was just hoping to hear some feedback from anyone that has attended this. We are looking forward to it.

Here's what I read about it from our roll call thread, it must be fairly new because I don't recall hearing much about it. Looking forward to it though!

Every fifth night in the Jazz on 4 lounge in Entertainment Place. Passengers are invited to don their favorite Jazz Age outfit and step back in time. This event is only open to passengers 21 and older

and has

a cover charge of $35, which includes entertainment, appetizers, alcoholic beverages.

Special Event –a “special” event limited to 50 people but he really

could not talk about it, the cost would be $35 per person and then he gave an extension number to call after saying that “I probably should not have mentioned this”.

We must wear the pin (provided) on our lapel and we are to tell no one the password unless asked.

A crew member dressed like a gangster opens the crew door,

looks at our lapel pin and asks for the password. When we reply

he lets us in and gives us $200 bucks in “old money” and a racing form.

Bear in mind that there are only 50 of us in this line and it is causing

quite a stir as everyone walking by is asking “what is going on” and the

crew keeps them moving along if they are not wearing a lapel pin.

We are escorted into the jazz club through the back hallways and

when we enter the club we see that it has been redecorated to be

a speakeasy of days gone bywe are at a prohibition party!

There are showgirl “flappers”, gangsters, old time press photographers,

a jazz band and an old time radio broadcasting horse races

(you use your $200 to bet on the races during the band breaks).

You are greeted with gin “shots” presented in egg cups,

all of the Hendricks’s gin drinks are served up in coffee cups and saucers and everybody stays in character for the entire 2.5 hours.

There is an MC keeping us in line till Mr. Gold arrives.

Appetizers are delivered to your couch, drinks keep flowing, the show continues and dancers keep at it until Mr. Gold arrives.

Of course there is more but that is for you to find out!

You will get great pictures from this and suffice it to say that you

will know when it is over (have you ever been raided?

Keystone cops?).

Anthony (Jumpin’ Joe) puts on a bar flair show that you will not believe.

The staff made it work by staying in character for days.

I think there may be about 12 cruise critic people, so far,

Did it open the same day as other shows or did you have to keep checking? Some say it was under specialty dining...do you remember where you found it?

It did not open the same day as other shows....it appeared a few weeks later as someone on our roll call noticed it. But it appeared in December for the Feb sailing so it was at least 75 days out.

Alright Sailingawaysoon - see you on board!

Is the Prohibition Party only on the Allure? If not I hope the success it apparently is having will lead to expanding it to the Freedom class ships also.

I would assume it will only be offered on the Allure as it is tied into the Theater Production of Chicago which is a musical set in the Prohibition era of Chicago.

This sounds like so much fun. We'll be on the Allure in Oct. Do you know what time the party starts? Thanks.

It's only on the Allure as it is tied into the Chicago these, Oasis has Hairspray.

It is under specialty dining and won't show up when your dining & show reservations open up. Ours showed up about 60? days out, listed as Prohibition Party under dining options.

If you go into 'My cruises' it is listed as Prohibition Event, under Specialty dining. You can book it online...

I would add that, at least for a number of people, the PP became available in the specialty dining reservations some time after the dining itself opened up. For our upcoming sailing May 13, dining became available Feb 23, the PP not till Mar 26.

I do too! I didn't know about it for our Allure cruise, but I'd love to attend one on our next Freedom sailing. It sounds like a great time.

Thanks. Really we only bought accessories. Picked up DWs' gloves, boa, & my fedoria (which was plastic) on Amazon. I could tell you everything about it, but that would kinda spoil the fun.

So speakeasy...Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! :) and have a great time

Honky-You don't have to dress up if you don't want to. it is part of the fun.

There were fedorias for sale at one of the shops onboard & at one of the kiosks on the promenade. On the promenade they were $10 & in the (Royal Caribbean logo) shop a little more? seems like they were $12 or 15.
