Malloryb Posted January 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2012 Hello parents! Just curious if anybody has insight on these 2 beaches? My daughter is 20 months old and loves splashing in the water. I've heard 7 Mile Beach can be rocky in spots??? We are booked on Carnival Glory in February 2012. Thanks for any help :)
cb at sea Posted January 6, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2012 We didn't find 7-mile beach to be rocky at all.....there is a bit of coral in the water, but you can clearly see it and avoid it....the water is extremely clear!
nana of 3 Posted January 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2012 Both are beautiful beaches, Rum Point is just so neat, we stayed there for hrs. finding conch shells in the water. You can also rent jet skis there. Have a great time, Grand Cayman is my favorite island :)
cruising grandma Posted January 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 9, 2012 You'll find more shade at Rum Point, but Seven Mile Beach is easier to get to by taxi. Royal Palm Beach Club on 7 mi. has clean restrooms, food and drink. Rum Point has a small cafe for great burgers/fries and drinks. Both are nice beaches. MamaParrotHead Posted January 9, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2012 Rum Point is gorgeous, one of my favorite places on earth. But it means your baby will spend a good deal of time on the road in a foreign country, which may or may not be an issue with you. Plenty of shade, nice facilities. 7 Mile is less picture-esque in my opinion, but fine for a beach day. Literally less than 10 minute ride (if I remember correctly, Rum Point is closer to 45 minutes), nice facilities as well. I'm sure they have umbrellas somewhere along 7 Mile for rent if you can't find shade anywhere else.
Malloryb Posted January 9, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted January 9, 2012 Thanks so much everyone! I love this board, wish I had found it for my other 7 cruises! I think we will try 7 Mile Beach, because I'd rather 10 minutes travel time over 45 minutes! Thanks again :)

Taxis, which are actually minivans and hold a lot of passengers, charge per person, around $5-$6 each way. They are readily available right off the ship, and at RP.
