Sign/Sail unlimited soda

They were scanning cards for both a record that you've purchased the sticker and that you're using your own card on the Dream last month. One of the bartenders told me they've really been cracking down on it - and you'll see it more at the beginning of the cruise or if the bar is particularly busy - even if they know you, they'll take your card and scan it if there are other people around so other guests won't think they are giving preferential treatment.

That said, once your bartenders get to know you, they'll often remember how you like your soda - I preferred extra ice so it would get and stay cold - later in the week, she tucked a few cans in their cooler for me!

I have a question. I know I'm allowed to bring on a 12 pack of soda per person when I initially board the cruise. If I run out and want to buy more soda at a port, am I allowed to bring that case on board?

Carnival's guidelines only list that this is allowed at embarkation, but I've read many posts saying that it is allowed. I've never read of an instance where anyone was stopped from bringing it on at ports.

Just got off the Legend Sunday and my 24 year old son purchased a soda card. It seemed that this trip whenever he showed the card, the waiters seemed "put out" by it and did not seem too happy about the card. Sometimes the soda was flat. I was with him on several occassions, and was kind of surprised to see this, as it had never happened before on past cruises.

Please post some pics. Thank you

Why would you want to see a photo?

We usually purchase the Bottomless Bubbles soda sticker. We did a back to back and they were the same color for each. It was just a sticker on the card. It would have been difficult to remove it.

When we used them we just put them on the bar and we received two drinks. On the lido deck, the main dining room or in the main show lounge we just showed the card to a waiter. Makes it easy to keep a fresh cold drink handy.

We get our money’s worth from them.

nonoise wants to see a photo so that he/she can make their own sticker, and use it without paying for the unlimited soda - thus ripping off Carnival for a whopping $40. At least that's what we are all assuming, being nonoise has yet to defend him/herself.

No No scaning... just a quick glance at the card, and after youve been to the same bartender a few times, they dont even look... :p

NOT TRUE over Christmas on the Magic unless it was a bar tender that you had used a number of times before and they were 100% sure you were approved, they would scan my S&S card to make sure I had bought the Bottomless Bubbles card. This board may explain the reason why, sounds like there may be those using conterfit stickers or old ones from previous cruises. :(

I don't have to defend myself. I am actually designing a sticker for Carnival for their use.

That is one of the more laughable posts I've seen on here. At least you have a sense of humor.

I work in an art studio, there's no way we would not have client supplied reference material. Have Carnival supply you will all of the options they use as well as sample cards.

For myself, I have bought one every cruise, but I have figured out that I don't get my money's worth back, and would be better off just paying for the single sodas, or trying to drink the lemonade that is free. It isn't actually half bad, and better than the iced tea.

Make sure you are going to drink a lot of soda before you buy the soda card...on a 7 or 9 day cruise that would be a ton of soda....

Length of cruise doesn't matter. Based on the daily price of the Bottomless Bubbles and the price of individual sodas, if you drink 3 or more sodas a day you save money using the unlimited option.

Actually my post WAS True...( I dont drink soda, so have not used one...but...)the last time my girls used them (January) they did not scan them... as several have pointed out, this is a NEW policy....I can see why...I always thought it was strange that all anyone had to do was 'flash a card with a sticker' as I had seen people get a soda, then had the card to someone else to use...

Glad they are cracking down...doesnt matter to me... we buy the stickers and use them as designed. :)

I said that too a couple weeks ago on another post but I was told none of the registers have this capability and Carnival would upgrade them because it would cost too much and they would have to rewire their whole system.

I know nothing about how cash registers are hooked up or wired and i know i saw them take my wifes card for every purchase and swipe it but don't know why.

When we purchase two stickers we frequently have one person get two sodas at a time. They take both sail & sign cards with the stickers to the bar and get two. Has not been a problem.

The cards were not scanned. I guess they trusted us because they would not know who was actually using them. On the lido deck or in the show lounge we just showed it to a waiter and they go get us a soda.

I have never bought one. How much is it? Does it vary based on the length of the cruise? We are taking a 7 night.
