I will never cruise with Carnival again, and here's why...

I thought this was called cruise critic and yet every time

Someone complains they get attacked.

This is why people complain and mock this site. It's become a joke.

I don't think this site is a joke at all. I learn alot, share when I can, and most of all, HAVE FUN reading, gently mocking, arguing, and adding my 2 cents! If it starts reading like a church newsletter, THEN I will complain, and go elsewhere!

Meanwhile, try not to be so thin-skinned, and have some fun.;)

JMHO (and your welcome to take it with a grain, or bucket) of salt.:D

we have always enjoyed our cruises, but, i know things can happen. but not with us.:) love everything about carnival. i guess i am a cheerleader!!:)

I'm a Carnival Fanboi because in 6 cruises on their ships

as well as 3 other cruises on other cruise lines that Carnival Corp. owns

I'm yet to experience one of these nit-picking disaster cruises I try not to read about, on cruisecritic!

How do people consistently book awful cruises? URL please?

I want hair on my sheets: I want a busted TV. I want lousy food in the DRs

but all I keep getting is great cruises! What am I doing wrong??

.

LOL! I enjoy being with cruisers like you.;)

I've always had fun, and laughed at things like hair on the bed,:p speculating in jest, at just what might have happened there to cause it, and who was involved?

In my teens, and twenties I stayed in youth hostels all over the world, and believe me when I say, finding hair on my bed beats finding a live rat or roach in it!:D Also, Carnival doesn't make you scrub the toilets like hostels do! (Will that be next???)

T Advisor King:

I can only quote so many posts at a time, but I found these all on page one in the first 25 posts.

Do you think your statement:

"That said, while there are a lot of Carnival cheerleaders who will jump on any criticism, I didn't really see that here."

still holds true?

His money. His decision where to spend it.

Your decision on taking his review with a grain of salt is your own as well.

Halos, thanks for helping me clarify my point. I have seen many posts where a passenger had something really awful happen and when they complained about it in a post, other CC members jumped all over them.

But the OP posted that he didn't like the chips and salsa. The quotes you picked out weren't jumping on him for identifying a significant, legitimate complaint, they were all just pointing out the same thing -- that the issues identified were minor.

I would have preferred if the 4th poster had kept the comment about the passengers on the Lido deck to him/herself because I thought it crossed the border of sarcasm. But, as a whole, I didn't view the four posts as "cheerleading". In fact, out of 300 posts, I'm surprised those were the best you could find to try to substantiate your point.

Maybe the OP should just cut his hair, remove the tatoos, and join the rest of the world! Nothing is going to make him happy...cruises...all inclusives...etc. Just my thoughts.

That is really unfair to say. To say nothing would make the op happy.

I have been on three Carnival cruises in less than 2 years. After my last cruise in September on the Ecstacy (first cruise out of dry dock) I will never cruise Carnival again. The ship was a dump, it didn't look any nicer than a trashy hotel. There were even holes in the cushions on the Serenity deck. (I have pictures to prove it.) When I thought I had bed bug bites, which was NOT bites but an alergic reaction to something else. We pulled the sheets off the bed to inspect the mattress only to find it old, dirty and ripped. Remember this was first cruise after dry dock. The food and service has gone down hill even from our 1st Carnival cruise in March 2010. Also if I order a chocolate Martini, I really don't want it in a plastic cup that looks like the free ones that come in oatmeal boxes. I was ready to go home after the 1st night. I would rather be at home than on a dumpy ship full of what I would say trashy people. On the 1st night on the elevator with my daughter, there were two drunk women all over each other, one woman had her hand down the other ladies pants doing you know what. I tried to keep my daughters attention so she did not look that way and got off on the next floor. I am sorry but my child should not have to see that. I did report the situation, they were not concerned at all. Am I saying that all people who cruise Carnival is trashy........NO. But what I am saying on the short four day cruise on the Ecstasy it was full of trash. (you can be white, black, poor, rich, ect and be trash. It's the behavior that puts somebody on the trash list in my book)

Excuse me, but since you cited my statement, I have to remark that my point was simply that NO trip is perfect and that if small things like that are going to RUIN the trip, then nothing would ever be good enough. My advice was to send the food back and get something else, or try another cruise line. I have had bad food and good food on all of them. It just seems silly to me to make the "never again" statement about an entire cruiseline, hotel chain, resort, etc. over small complaints that could have been rectified by simply ordering other food. I think pubic hair on the bed is gross and not ok by any stretch, but not the norm, and not likely to happen again (so not a reason to necessarily not use any specific cruise line or hotel chain again).

I really don't care who sails on what line or ship again ... it's just an observation that some people think a few small dislikes or human errors are the end of the world ... they are really ruining their own vacation.

I didn't read your original post, or any of the other post in this thread... Here's my opinion anyway. You don't want to cruise Carnival? Then don't. Yay! Less folks like you that are on my cruise, the better my experience becomes.. Now shoo, go over to the fancy forums and mingle with free campaign, I'll go grab a yegerbomb and an ice cold ThirstyFrog Red draft and sing karaoke.

To harsh?

I strongly doubt the OP's statement about the handful of "curly hairs". Probably just an employee of RCCL or NCL coming on this site to disparage CCL. Wouldn't be the first time or the last.

I'm not doubting or flaming the OP....

if that happened to me, I probably would have taken pictures.... and probably posted them.

I was staying at a fancy casino/hotel/ in Macau once, and there was a bloodstain on one of the pillows.... sometimes things happen, places will take care of it. Would I return to that place? (if in Macau, yes and I would stay at the other location in Las Vegas)

I'm sorry things weren't great, and luckily there are many cruiselines for you to pick from. Not to mention the other vacation options that exist.

I think the TV is a big issue also. We have much down time and spend plenty of it in our cabin. The TV is on quite often.

I was ticked because of the 70% of the channels are basically Carnival commercials.

Not everyone likes the lame activities 'bingo, crafts, slots, bean bag toss, hairy chest, port lectures, ect.

Trying to downplay/trivialize peoples concerns is the exact reason why it is ok for Carnival to keep cutting back.

As for Chips/Salsa, only Carnival can screw that up..

Or just cruise another line that better fits your needs.

Seems so simple.

That is so ugly, I am not even sure what to say...

I think YOU should join the rest of the world. If you would open your eyes and leave your Stepford lifestyle and check out the rest of us, you might realize that you are in the minority now. So... how does it feel to still live in the 50's?

I can honestly say that in 25 cruises I have never once felt bored or needed something to "pass the time". I do a lot of cruises as a single and on those I never turn on the tv at all and I've never ever used the internet services on a cruise. If I want to watch "Dexter"' date=' I'll do it at home when I'm not planning my next cruise. :)

If someone is "bored" and thinks that there's nothing to do on a cruise, then cruising (in my opinion) is obviously the wrong type of vacation for them.[/quote']

Totally agree! I am going on cruise #4 in two weeks; and I look forward to the next 21!

i actually *did* take pictures. In the interest in not posting pubic hairs on a PG rated forum, I deleted them.

i'll admit, I'm proud that i'm being accused of being a part of a conspiracy to slander carnival, it's definitely a first! :)

You're sailing the Magic in a few months, I challenge you to say these things to me in person(as i live in houston), or are you such a coward that you'd just make stupid accusations over the internet based on the fact that i am sharing an honest opinion about a vacation I had just recently?

edit:

you're also more than welcome to come to my office where i work in the "rest of the world", at the corporate headquarters of a major nationwide retailer as an IT administrator. Your comment about me being an employee of a competing cruiseline is so stupid that I'll happily show you around the office and let you meet my coworkers, and i'll even treat you to lunch at our employees only cafe. Hell, I'll give you a damn coupon book to use on your next purchase with us!

I don't doubt it ... I have seen worse, and strange things too ... I have come into hotel rooms in very nice hotel chains to find makeup smeared on the pillow and obvious signs of someone having used the bed for not so innocent reasons ... Of course, we came to find out that housekeeping had made up the room and the previous occupents were not gone yet - probably had carried out their luggage early, something like that. Housekeeping was aware of it, but the room had already been flagged as unoccupied, so they assigned it to us before housekeeping made it back in ... I asked for a different room - end of story. Can't do that on a cruise ship, but you can ask that your room be fully cleaned (and stand in the doorway and watch if you don't trust them).

I have come to my room to find a toilet full of poo, dirty razors in the shower ... once checked into a hotel room and my child almost fell out of the 6th story window because the glass pane was only ducttaped in (in a 4 star resort) ... in most cases the room was cleaned and was as good as new ... in the window case - switched rooms and everything was fine. They made an error when they checked us in ... no one was hurt, they were apologetic and seemed very concerned for my child and freaked out by their mistake. Ended up not being a big deal.

Finding something gross in your cabin is not a good way to start a trip, but it is not something I would allow to ruin my vacation.

BTW - saw the post about wanting the aux. port because you brought Dexter along to watch ... I know some of the ships are getting new flatscreens and I wonder if they will have the aux port covered too ... they do state in the faqs not to bother with gaming systems, etc. unless you are in a suite. I know it isn't ideal, but it is something that did not change from cruise to cruise.

You tell em KingPin! Some of these people TRULY need to get off of these boards if they have nothing good to say and instead spread trash talk! Such pettiness is part of the reason why I now visit this site so infrequently.

maybe a good call on not posting the pics.... I'm sure some people would have complained about that or called 'photoshop'

Again, sorry you had such a negative experience.

i'd be damned if i voluntarily wrote a review on a message board and had to prove my experience with back ups and exhibits a to z.

don't believe the op? that's fine.

need to discredit him or her because it didn't happen to you? yeah, ok.
