Caribbean Princess Formal Nights

I'm going on this Southern Caribbean cruise soon and I have no real desire to participate in the formal nights, I have to wear a suit five days a week for work, so I view this as a gigantic pain in the rear (and packing one for vacation is about the last thing I want to do). I'm a shorts and flip flops guy

What's the minimum I need to pack to get in the door on smart casual nights and formal nights? They say no shorts, so will they take jeans on smart casual?

Thanks for any help

I just got off the CB this Sunday. For formal night most men were dressed up, very few tuxes, many suits, many in long-sleeved shirts and dress pants (including my DH). Some were in more casual clothes, and they looked very much out of place. We didn't go to the MDR this trip, so I don't know if people in casual clothes were turned away on formal night.

For casual nights, I think most wore Dockers type pants, though I saw quite a few jeans. Short sleeve shirts or nice polos were the norm. A few men wore sports jackets even on casual nights. There were some men in shorts on the upper decks, but I don't think I saw many on the Piazza or coming out of the MDR.

IMO nice jeans paired with a nice shirt will do quite well. HTH!

Formal night; dark pants and long sleeved shirt. Other nights; khakis and collared polo are fine. Or, you can go to the buffet in shorts every night.

I agree. Jeans are OK on smart casual nights but in my experience, very few dress in jeans. "Smart" casual is generally defined as business casual. The vast majority of gentlemen wear Dockers or slacks and a shirt on smart casual evenings, jackets and pants on formal nights.
