Rare MMDown Under Posted January 15, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2012 Hi we are booked on celebrity millenium nov 2012 we will be in aireys beach from 8am to 5pm and cairns for two nights 10am to 3pm the next dayare there any companies operating GBR tours that fit in with timings any help would be appreciated Past comment has been that it is best to go on a ship tour to the GBR, because of the timings the cruise lines choose to tender. However, because sailing to the GBR are weather dependent, I wouldn't book a ship tour but wait until you arrive to see what the weather is like. Then I would try to approach a local to see what you can do in the time available. There is lots to do in both places, if you don't go to the Barrier Reef. Depending where your ship tenders, you might like to consider - ferry from Shute Harbour to South Mole Island or one of the other Whitsunday Islands, then do a bush walk on the island (national park) take a tour to Dingo Beach and Cape Gloucester Eco Resort (a personal favourite I do every visit) From Cairns - Waterfront boardwalk and huge swimming pool and fun play area for children. Botanical Gardens Scenic coastal drive from Cairns to Port Douglas beaches and rainforest in hinterland. Cape Tribulation is a personal favourite, if you have time. etc.
