dnl_in_Illinois Posted January 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2012 We're sailing on the Pearl Jan 29, 2012 and will be driving to the port that morning with an expectation to arrive around 11am. We plan to park in the port lot. It is well publicized that there is a marathon that is scheduled for that Sunday morning and the route appears to cross the access roads into the Port of Miami. I am sure that there is a plan to adjust for this -- but has anyone heard about such plans? Here is the website link for the marathon: http://www.ingmiamimarathon.com/Home.htm

Usually the NYC Marathons only interfere with debarkation. I would recommend googling the traffic department of Miami ...make phone calls ... drive in day before and stay on Biscayne Blvd. Good luck :)
Sauer-kraut Posted January 15, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2012 You might want to post this in the Home Ports section as well, a local resident might watch those boards and reply with first hand knowledge. Also there is another thread with this same question with no answers at the moment.
CaliforniaDreamer Posted January 15, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2012 access to the Port will be open. we were there the day of the marathon and taxied over from Intercontinental. We had no problems. but since you are driving yourself, you'll need to know what roads ARE closed and plan acccordingly. i was told the early morning hours are the worst but after a couple hours, the runners are all dispersed. good luck

Here is the website link for the marathon: http://www.ingmiamimarathon.com/Home.htm I found the answer to my own question -- there is no issue. The way the marathon course is laid out the marathon path crosses the entry to the port only once and that is via an underpass at North Miami Ave & NE 5th Street. As you arrive North Miami Avenue traveling on NE 5th Street going east to the port, you will pass over the marathon path. I should have given the planners more credit for having this worked out. Thanks all for your suggestions. Here's a map of the marathon course. http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&encTyp...010A420B%21147
