emcelh Posted January 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2012 I just booked the Fascination for next month, our first cruise on Carnival and I have a few questions. Since it's so close they were only able to confirm late seating for dinner but we're waitlisted for anytime dining, which we preferred. The email confirmatiom just shows the waitlist...not what was supposed to be confirmed. Does anyone know if this is normal? We're celebrating my mother's 90th birthday and I'd love to have a cake or something for her at dinner. Who should I speak to about it? For elegant night, would we feel out of place with just dress pants and a dressy top? My recent cruises have been on NCL and evening dress is quite casual. We don't want to pack more than we need but don't want to feel out of place either. Thanks
mpace58 Posted January 20, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2012 You be just fine dressing that way for Formal dinner. My wife wears a nice pair of dress black pants and nice top. I've not had a birthday on Carnival, but on Celebrity we mentioned to our waiter and we were given a nice little chocolate cake.
serene56 Posted January 20, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2012 On carnival you pay for the cakes- you can visit formalities and tell them what you want-- when you want it or you can call bon voyage and order it ahead of time. http://www.carnival.com/BonVoyage/Default.aspx?cat=Occasions+Cakes you can also have her room decorated (for a price) http://www.carnival.com/BonVoyage/AddToCart.aspx?cat=Special+Occasions&pid=80E

emcelh Posted January 20, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted January 20, 2012 Thanks for the information. I'll just mention it and see what happens. It would be nice for them to just acknowledge her birthday....don't really need a cake.
