Montreal Eh! Posted January 22, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2012 We will be in Barcelona for two days prior to our cruise in August. Can anyone recommend a tour guide/ company that does tours of the Jewish Quarter. Thanks
baggal Posted January 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2012 There's not much remaining in the Jewish Quarter in Barcelona. Easy to do it on your own with a guidebook.
quercus alba Posted January 23, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2012 The guide we had on our walking tour of the Gothic quarter, mentioned several things about the Jewish history there. I don't know how much all of the Runnerbean guides work off of the same script, but they definitely do a good Gothic quarter tour. http://www.runnerbeantours.com/old-city-free-walking-tour.php
pointsgalore1 Posted January 25, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2012 If you Google "Jewish Barcelona" you will find a number of websites with information about Jewish sightseeing. We went to the recently unearthed main synagogue from just before the Jews were expelled. Just a small sction remains. However once there we were able to connect with a tour guide who took us on a very personal and wonderful guided tour of what was once the Jewish quarter. There is even a small museum. There is also a tour operator called, I believe, Urban Tours, that does Jewish tours.
jstroose1 Posted March 12, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 12, 2012 There is a company called Urban Cultours (info@urbancultours.com). Also I believe Barcelona Day Tours offers a walking tour.

Mindel50 Posted January 21, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2017 We have booked a tour with urban cultours in may. They were highly recommended by a good friend. We'd like someone to join us on a tour of Jewish Barcelona on May 1st 2017 with Urban Cultours. Hoping for two or three more couples. Any takers? Rare mskaufman Posted January 23, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 23, 2017 If you will be in Barcelona two days before your cruise, think about a trip to Girona. There is a Jewish museum in that city. In Barcelona we used the Runnerbean tour and the guide was excellent for the Gothic Quarter. We went past the recently found synagogue but as a previous poster said, not much remains. Mindel50 Posted January 29, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 29, 2017 (edited) Hi, Unfortunately I need to withdraw my invitation to anyone wanting to join our tour of Jewish Barcelona on May 6th 2017 as the guide has informed me that she'll not be available. She'll be attending a conference. I'm sorry if this has inconvenienced anyone. Edited January 29, 2017 by Mindel50

Mr. Click Posted February 2, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 2, 2017 We did the tour with ubran cultours last Sept. She is very good, very knowlegeable but there is very little left to see. There is the old synagoge and a small museum but mostly it was her knowledge that made the tour worthwhile
new_cruiser Posted February 3, 2017 #12 Share Posted February 3, 2017 Hi, Unfortunately I need to withdraw my invitation to anyone wanting to join our tour of Jewish Barcelona on May 6th 2017 as the guide has informed me that she'll not be available. She'll be attending a conference. I'm sorry if this has inconvenienced anyone. You said May 1st in your first post and May 6th here. Which was it? We will be arriving in Barcelona on May 1, so if it was that, I'll know to not try for a booking on that date.
cc_rider Posted February 6, 2017 #13 Share Posted February 6, 2017 Girona has a much larger and better preserved Jewish Quarter than Barcelona does. There is also a good museum. Girona's old city is amazing. Very nice day trip if you have time.
