CACruzrs Posted January 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Questions for people who have been to Machu Picchu recently: On the entrance tickets we just printed out it says "Carry drinks only in flasks or canteens". Does this mean we cannot have bottled water in plastic containers in our backpacks? On our tickets it also says "Consumption of food are forbidden". Does this mean we cannot even have granola or energy snack bars in our backpacks?

They are concerned, with reason, about the ecological damage. If you have a flask, fill it up from your bottle. Same for the wrappers for the snack bars. belleretraite Posted January 23, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Marazul is right ! The sign is there for people not to throw away their empty bottles or plastic bags ! Do bring along some water as you will need it and there are only one two locations where you can replenish your reserves ( At both extremities of the site ) Enjoy !
