We love the Med in mid to late May because its not as crowded or hot as in the busy summer season. But you do need to be prepared for a variance in weather conditions from hot and dry (perhaps 28 - 30) or cool and wet. We usually prepare by taking some layers such as short sleeve shirts, some light cotton sweaters, and a light all-weather jacket. If you are simply flying to Europe and taking a relatively short cruise (less then 2 weeks) you can check the long range weather forecast right before you leave home. Weather sites such as Accuweather.com will have extended 15 day forecasts and although they are not totally accurate it does give you a good idea of the temperature patterns.
