Fine and Jim Dandy Posted January 23, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2012 They are more than happy to take your money at the tender age of 18.
Rare sparks1093 Posted January 23, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Agree, 18, but would recommend that she bring an ID with her just in case she's asked for one (driver's license or passport would do the trick).

johnql Posted January 23, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Here's the full casino policy that was on a handout that was distributed in the waiting room at the pier on embarkation day in NYC two weeks ago: "You have to be 18 (and have ID) to gamble or be in the Casino. Sorry, but no winnings can be paid to any person or bets in violation. Also, drinks or glassware can't be taken out; pipes or cigars can't be taken in, but cigarette smoking is ok. Pipes and cigars are allowed in the humidor on Deck 7, Mid. Slot winnings of $1,200 and above could be subject to W2-G tax withholdings."
palmyrafan Posted January 23, 2012 #7 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Wow....I learned something new here today. I was under the impression you had to be 21. The only reason I say that is because they booted a bunch of 18 year olds out of the casino on the Pearl 2 years ago when we sailed to Alaska. Security said they had to be 21. Is it possible they recently raised the age limit or were the security personnel mistaken?
DMH15 Posted January 24, 2012 #8 Share Posted January 24, 2012 We took my nephew on the Dawn as his 18th birthday present. He enjoyed black jack, slots and roulette.

Is it possible they recently raised the age limit or were the security personnel mistaken? The gambling and drinking age for Alaska is always 21. The state of Alaska requires ships that port in Alaska to adhere to those age restrictions. Hawaii also requires ships to adhere to a 21 age restriction when ships are in their waters and no gambling of any kind--not even bingo. For ships that do mainland-Hawaii cruises, I'm almost positive that they can have the casino open (and one presumes allow a beverage waiver if the cruise line uses one) during the crossings. beachchick
