Looking at beaches to visit while we're in Grand cayman. We came across this beach, can someone post pictures of this beach? How clear is the water and how are the facilities I.e. bar, restaurants, bathrooms? Thanks in advance.

Just got back from Grand Cayman, via Carnival Glory last week. This was the first of 4 times at the island when we were the ONLY ship there (usually 4-5), so figured THIS was the time to utilize 7-mile beach!

 

I have to say... 7-mile beach was disappointing. I had heard Sea Grape was really great, though most posts here are about it are ancient. Even so, there's no changing the fact that the waterline is ~50' from the major coast roadway, and believe me, you know it. Gorgeous water and soothing smooth sand, but not really any snorkeling... the rocks there are all dead coral, so life is pretty minimal. Last year we chartered a boat and went to Rum Point, which was much nicer!

 

There are indeed lounges ($8) and umbrellas ($4, and mandatory if you want ANY shade) avail at Sea Grape, as well as a nice cafe... which has showers and bathroom. Lots of water rentals... jet ski, "banana boat", etc. Not at all overcrowded, and very reliable taxi service ($5/head).

 

We walked further north along the beach, and Tiki Beach looked much nicer... even less people, and much wider beach with condo next door that buffers road noise and creates more seclusion.

The entire stretch of 7-mile beach is narrow. Caribbean beaches are not like our East Coast beaches at all! We found the water to be quite clear and warm. If you simply want sun and water to take a dip in, waterport opportunities and the other facilities, any part of the beach will do.
