We just sailed the second Fantasy sailing. Applied for this service and were notified about 6:00 pm Friday evening that we were a random pick chosen by our airline not to participate in this service. That meant getting regular luggage tags and having luggage sent the usual way for morning pick-up. There was no cost for the service! We have never had this experience on other lines that offered it. Princess charges $20 per person and NCL $19.95.

I was very surprised at the easy disembark. No crowds. Left the ship at 8 am and at the Orlando airport by 9:10! Then the lines started and we knew our cruise was over.

What if you don't want to be the first off the ship? Is the buffet open? On other lines we old grab some breakfast and head back to the cabin to finish getting ready. I can't stand being forced to just loiter around waiting to leave! Also get a little more sleep and DD can watch tv. Thanks!

The buffet is open on disembarkation day. However, they stop serving at 8:30. And by 9:00 DCL CMs start encouraging everyone toward the big doors to leave.

 

It's fairly difficult to sleep in that morning, as there's lots of noise (PA announcements, kids crying, luggage being manuevered in the passageways. Plus, it's quite likely you'll get knocking at the door several times from your room host, "checking to see if you're set to go".

Thanks for the update. It's been a while since we did Disney and I just wanted to check on the situation. I hate to have myself mentally prepared and then find out I'm just mental. And I know I won't get to sleep in per se, I am just not in a huge hurry. Thanks!

So it's not just me then.

On our first Magic cruise, I think that we were the last off of the ship. We left (and by left, I mean were dragged kicking and screaming) about a minute before the published "All Ashore" time.

It was my belief (as told by the DCL customer service person) that since we are going back to the resort (ASMu), our bags would be transferred for us. Is that true? I'm getting mixed messages.

Firstly we recently cruised back to back on the Fantasy so had to disembark twice from the ship.

 

The first cruise we slept in, as we were getting on.

 

There wasn’t any noise or PA announcements until circa 7.30am when the ship was cleared for border control.

 

Even then we were not disturbed, or prompted to leave, and it was still pleasant in our room to 9am.PA did start to go off about 8am to 9am but by then a lot of people had gone.

 

Now if your going to a Disney resort, you collect your bags go through border and immigration and customs, you can have a port in the bag area if you want, and then its right to your car or taxis or left to a DCL bus and they have a rolling service to all Disney resorts, they tell you which one is going, your bags go on that, and as soon as its full its off.

 

Now its slightly different to magical express who deliver bags, and also different to embarkation where your bags go first and the next time you see them is in your stateroom.

 

The second time we got off earlier as we wanted to drive to Epcot.
