So Confused About Atlantis Day Pass

Just want to share some information I got from a friend who is vacationing at Atlantis right now. He suggested we all cancel Aquaventure WaterPark if it's $140 for the 4 hours or so time we get. He actually said to cancel even if it's all day. He compared it to Water Country USA in Williamsburg to which we are regular visitors and he said Atlantis is no where as good.

They are enjoying snorkeling tours and walk on beaches, jet skis, and Fish Fry and other local eating places more than anything at Atlantis except the Dolphin Encounter which they 9 year old enjoyed.

We've purchased the RCL day trip excursions to Atlantis (including water park). The excursion includes transportation to and from Atlantis. However, the RCL bus is scheduled to pick everyone up about 12:30 p.m. We want to stay into the afternoon, though, and are willing to pay for our own taxi back to the ship.

Has anyone out there ever done that? Does the RCL excursion require you to leave at 12:30 p.m.? We want more time! (First-time cruiser and I didn't notice the departure transportation time until after we booked and paid for the excursion online.)

For the record, our ship doesn't leave the Nassau port till midnight., so rushing back to the ship at lunchtime isn't the issue.

Does anyone know if American Express credit card is widely accepted in Atlantis? Thank you.

At Atlantis.. yes.. but not at all other venues and shops. Have a back up credit card. (Visa or MC)

ATM's do not take AMEX

Wanted to share our recent experience at Atlantis. We were there 2 weeks ago (on Carnival Freedom). We were in port 1 pm - 7 pm. I really wanted to see Atlantis, but was concerned because a lot of the advise on here told me that it would be SO crowded that it wouldn't be worth the bother, especially since we weren't in port until later in the day, it was spring break, it was a Saturday, etc. I wasn't interested in trying to do the water parks (they close at 4:30 or something like that?) just walking around and seeing the Digs. So, before our cruise i had decided to skip it, and do something else that day.

However, once we got in that day, we all decided we wanted to give it a try. SO - we walked off the ship, got a taxi (there are LOTS of them right outside the terminal, they waited until they filled up the van/taxi), it was a set price of $4 per person. They dropped us off at the main entrance, people directed us to the ticket booth (located inside the casino), we walked right up and bought day passes for The Digs - $40 a person. That gave us wrist bands that allowed us to walk throughout the property (except the water park and beach). We did a self-guided tour through the Digs and some other exhibits (stingrays, shark tanks, etc.) did NOT have crowds AT ALL!!!! We wandered around for about 2 hours, saw what we wanted to see, then walked outside and got a taxi back to the shopping area (again, $4 a person, in a full taxi/van.)

We saw several tour groups while we were walking around, i'm sure those were the cruise ship guided tours. Personally, i was so glad we were not stuck with one of those groups! We were able to go see what we wanted in probably half the time of the tour.

I'm really glad we took the chance and went over there. I'm glad i saw it, probably wouldn't go again (unless i get lucky and figure out how to stay there some day!)

My family was very excited to take the Atlantis beach day excursion. We have never been to the Atlantis and wanted to see it before we booked an expensive week there. First off the price is ridiculous. They brought us like cattle into the resort and to a beach that was just hideous. The water was 10 feet from us and the chairs were on a hill. You couldn't even sit on the chairs because you were on a slope. The water at this point was so rough due to the breaking rocks that it was dangerous to swim. My husband went in and was immediately knocked down. We left and went on the prowl to see what the resort was about. Beautiful fish in the tanks. Thats the nicest thing I can say. People were everywhere. If I had paid to stay there for one week and had to put up with the thousands of people that they bring in everyday I would be so angry. I will never go back to the Atlantis and was extremely disappointed by this excursion. I felt ripped off and will be writing them a letter.

Are you going to complain that there were too many people there during one of the busiest travel weeks of the year? Or that the water was too rough? We did the water park during our cruise in the middle of November, and it was great. However, there is no way I'm booking an excursion like Atlantis or Disney during peak times.

Yes I am going to complain. I felt very taken advantage of. This was quite a bit of money. When I look at my tour which I booked myself on St. Martin with Bernards Tours, I paid $175.00 for 5 people. We were picked up at 8 AM and dropped back off at 4 PM. We saw the entire Island. Maho Beach, Orient Beach (beach chairs drinks umbrellas) the iguana farm and much much more. The Atlantis was around $500.00 for 4 hours. They did not even provide a chair on the beach you could sit in since it was on a hill and you fell off. I would even say a cliff of sand. Horrible Horrible Horrible. And yes it was spring break but guess what when you have children your time for vacation is limited to kids school holidays. We knew it would be busy but never expected to be completely taken advantage off. We have been to Disney 8 times during spring break and have always been treated with respect and been told thank you for choosing Disney as your resort destination. The Atlantis tries to be a huge resort but it is in no way exclusive. The amount of transients walking around on any given day makes it unsafe. I choose where I spend my hard earned money and the Atlantis will never get another dime from me ever. When the new resort is done being built Atlantis will just be a memory, and I for one look forward to the new resort putting Atlantis in it's place on the bottom.

It's clear you don't like Atlantis. Others do. For me personally its a great place to visit and stay at. I have visited numourous times on Rccl and have also stayed at Atlantis. I'm not sure what you mean by cliff beach but EVERY time I've been there the beach is fine. Sure it's has a slope. All beaches have a slight slope. I didn't fall off any chair I sat on. As already stated you went during the busiest time of the year. Of course it's going to be crowded. You can "think" all you want but Atlants will always been the top resort in Nassau in that sense.

We will be in Nassau July 4th. As far as I can tell, we are the only cruise ship docked that day. What are our chances of getting a day pass through Atlantis? This is a much cheaper option than reserving through the cruise line, but we don't want to miss out either.

Atlantis will be packed to the gills and may restrict due to 4th of July events. Purchase in advance.

First off do not book it through the cruise. Take a taxi it will cost $7.00. They will absolutely let you in and sell you a day pass especially if you are the only boat in port. You can call the Atlantis direct at their 800 number and they will give you information.

This is not good info.. especially on a holiday. Atlantis turns people away on a regular basis.. the # of passes IS restricted. July 4th is a big celebration, BBQ, Fire works .. the whole nine.. Tickets will be at a premium.

Atlantis will not guarantee a day pass.

Possibly you overlooked that I wrote to call the Atlantis 800 number directly to ask for information on this day.

I didn't overlook that.. unfortunately, Atlantis OFTEN gives out misinformation about these types of things. They can tell you the price, but they can't tell you if there will be passes available when you get there. Once the daily limit is sold... they are gone.

I have heard of many people who have been not been able to get same day passes. It's a gamble.

If you want guaranteed entry, you need to either buy from the ship, book a room, or purchase thru http://www.majestictoursbahamas.com

I think one of the other resellers are now carrying them online, but I don't recall which one.

I agree regarding they give out wrong info. I called 2x and asked if there were any fees or deposits req'd for our stay- we were told no both times. We checked in and they said there was $150 PER DAY hold they needed to put on my card. Since we were only there 1 day it was only $150 but they would hold it for 30 days. I spoke to a manager because I had called twice and was told this was not the case. Regardless we had a great time at the resort and will go back, nothing bad to say other than the mis info we were given.

Could someone please clarify what "peak time" is for Atlantis. We are going on the Epic Nov. 9 and I'm not thrilled about Atlantis but my 10 year old son has been begging to go and when he found out we were going to Nassau...he almost burst wide open with joy. It looks like I'm going to have to give it a whirl but I really hope Nov. 9 is considered off season.

Luckily, it's off season.. but if your 10 year old is off from school due to veterans day, that means 10,000's of others will be too. So expect a crowd, not quite spring break, but not relaxed either.

Being off season, you can also find "closures" which can include maintainance on one of more of the rides/slides. And restaurant closures as well.

I didn't take him out of school due to veteran's day. :( I didn't even realize that it was veteran's day until you just said that. :o

We are in Nassau on the 15th so maybe they'll be gone by then.

Scubagirl, if Aug 21 Wed is considered as off season? We will be docking in Nassau with three ships in, NCL Sky, NCL gem, enchantment of the seas. what's the average waiting time for waterside in Atlantis during that time? Thanks!
