Rare Lois R Posted January 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2012 What can On Board Credits be used against?? Hi,:) anything. They go onto your S&S account and so whatever you buy will be deducted from the total of the credit. Drinks, souveniers, spa treatments, Specialty restaurants, ship's excursions, just to give you some examples. By the way, I LOVE your screen name:D
labeachcomber Posted January 29, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 29, 2012 Yeah, as good as cash. And in the rare case that your ship charges would be less than your on board credit (I've never heard of anyone making this though...), any leftover credit gets refunded to your credit card. Not quite. Travel agent OBC (same as cash) will be refunded to your credit card, but Celebrity OBC, no matter which way, shape, or form, is use or lose OBC. In our cruises, we've usually gotten more TA OBC than Celebrity OBC, and the TA had told us about the refund to the credit card. One thing I never was sure on was if you had to specify which OBC you wanted to use, or if Celebrity exhaused the nonrefundable OBC first. But we've never been in the situation of even coming close to a refund, so I guess it's something I never paid attention to!

We actually had obc leftover on our last cruise. They refunded the balance in the form of check the morning of departure. We had prepaid our tips, drank hardly at all, bought all of our trinkets and shore excursions at the ports, and had pre-purchased a few bottles of wine. It was great leaving WITH money. colocop004 Posted January 29, 2012 #8 Share Posted January 29, 2012 Like everyone else said OBC's can be used just like cash on board, you can even use them in the casino! Not all OBC's are refundable, so be careful there. I know people that had a bunch of non-refundable OBC left on the ast night of their cruise and they went to the casino and took it all out in cash. They got their refund!!
BBsails Posted January 29, 2012 #9 Share Posted January 29, 2012 It's been my experience that X automatically uses non-refundable OBC first. In case you have non-refundable OBC left at the end of your cruise, you can withdraw it through the casino for a three percent charge. If you have refundable OBC left over it will be posted back to your credit card.
