Booking through a UK or USA site

Dear all

We are new to cruising and looking to book a New England cruise on Carnival.

On searching the Internet, the prices through the USA Carnival site appear much lower than the UK Carnival site, is there a reason for this and is it possible to book through the USA site from the UK.

Hopefully someone with more experience can advise?

All the best

Mike

Mike- try asking this question on the "UK Cruising" page, below this in the index.....I know some people on there have used the USA, but some lines don't allow it.

Sometimes the price looks cheaper because port and other taxes haven't been added, which have to be in the complete price in Europe.

Good luck!

Jo.

Booked nearly all of our cruises thro' the US. Celebrity for us, a couple of times, has been cheaper thro the UK site. Just compare prices (including taxes), if it's cheaper in the US, either call them or book on line. ;)

Dear JO and Anne

Thank you very much.

If you book direct with most of the cruiselines as soon as your address is put in it reverts to UK site. American travel agents are not allowed to book clients from Europe and Australia. We booked through a USA one for more than 10 years but they are not allowed to do it. Pity as the deals are better in the US.

If you do a search there are some lengthy discussions about this.

Thanks, I thought it was too good to be possible.

In many cases it is possible... however its a matter of finding a TA who will... remember those its not apples and apples... various safeguards you get from a UK agent may not be there with a US one...

Some do but, you can change the country, I almost always phone the cruiseline direct and ask to be put thro' to the International dept. Quite often, the cruise we want to do has not been on the UK site till weeks after the US site and, as we like to choose our cabin, the earlier booked, the better for us. Never had a problem booking direct. ;) :D
