cawagner Posted February 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2012 This will be our first balcony and the door going to the balcony, does it ONLY lock from the inside by a sliding lock...My fear is that its a handle lock and I will go out to the balcony, shut the door behind me and I will be locked out there LOL :o
montekat Posted February 6, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2012 You have to physically lock it when the door is closed. No way for you to lock it and then shut the door.

MSRussell Posted February 6, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2012 It is a lock that you slide the lever over. You will love your balcony!! Melanie
wrigley80 Posted February 6, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2012 A balcony is the only way to cruise. So peaceful to sit out on your balcony with room service and watch the sunrise

kelkel2 Posted February 7, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 7, 2012 This will be our first balcony and the door going to the balcony, does it ONLY lock from the inside by a sliding lock...My fear is that its a handle lock and I will go out to the balcony, shut the door behind me and I will be locked out there LOL :o Our Princess had a handle lock and all you had to do was turn the handle down and it was locked. The carnival one that I have experience with was different. On Our Princess cruise my husband left me on the balcony to go upstairs to the lido to get coffee and ended up turning the handle down just out of habit and I was sitting on the balcony in the baking heat (we had an aft and it had direct sun at that point) I was sitting in sweat pants since I had just gotten out of the shower from a busy day in Roatan. It got hot and I turned around to go in and it was locked, I thought I was going to die. I was praying he wouldn't get distracted and would come back quickly. I was panting and sweating by the time he got back. He didn't even realize he had locked me out and he felt so bad! So, moral of the story if you leave someone on the balcony, just do a double check to make sure you didn't lock it if you are leaving the room.
