Sandielle Posted February 10, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2012 They won't be in port. The Dawn is anchored out from Tannum Sands now and is going to be refuelled by a barge!
Kiwi Kruzer Posted February 10, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 10, 2012 Wonder who the current Captain is? Seems a bit strange to take a ship with 2,000 passengers plus crew off from Brisbane on a Pacific cruise without enough fuel to get back to home .

Also someone on another forum said they might also not have been able to refuel in Noumea due to the bunkering demands of the extra ships at shelter. Technikhaus Posted February 10, 2012 #10 Share Posted February 10, 2012 Just thought I may fill you all in on why we are here, or what we where told... I'm currently sitting on the dawn, in the atrium listening to live music:D Has been an interesting cruise... We where meant to be going to Port Vila, but couldn't due to Tropical Cyclone Jasmine, So we took our time to head back to Noumea from Lifou, as we where then ahead of schedule. One we got to Noumea, the Captian (I can't remember his name, but he is Italian) was told that Brisbane does not have enough fuel to fill the ship for the next cruise, but that Gladstone would, so that is why we are here :o We where going full speed all night, was a very rough ride... I believe it is because where where taking out time initially, as we where ahead of schedule, but with this unexpected stop over, we are now behind schedule, and will be arriving late to Brisbane tomorrow... Kiwi Kruzer Posted February 10, 2012 #14 Share Posted February 10, 2012 Sounds like a cruise you wont forget in a hurry. Wonder if it was too many sea days that got to the "odd passengers"?:( 20 does sound a lot to be escorted ashore by the Federal Police. Wonder why they did wait till they got to Brisbane? I thought there was a brig on board, and I have heard of people being confined to their cabins. 2CtheC Posted February 10, 2012 Author #25 Share Posted February 10, 2012 Oh okay. I didn't realise the refuelling thing had been known. But why would they do that????Seems strange. 2 reasons Apparently there's a shortage of fuel at Brisbane, and they more or less had some spare time to do it because they were coming from Noumea not Port Vila as per usual.
