Dolphin3 Posted February 11, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2012 We are going with VIV to go cave tubing in May, my daughter is extremely frightened of snakes  I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they saw any snakes in the water during cave tubing. I am sure they are there... But are they frequently seen? Thanks Everyone

Colorado Kat Posted February 12, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2012 My daughter saw one, in the water. At the very end, where the rope swing was. She mentioned it to the tour guide, and he told her she should have told him about it right away. He seemed quite surprised she had seen one. twoforcruisin Posted February 12, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2012 We did a private tubing excursion in Belize that went through two caves in which the guides walk in the water in front of the chain of tubes and did not see a snake at all. cruisergrandma Posted February 15, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2012 We have been told more than once that the water is too cold for snakes. We have done the cave tubing 3 times and never seen a snake.
elcuchio24 Posted February 15, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2012 Just in the water and hanging from the cave ceiling..... JK, no you will be fine. Not really deep enough into the puckerbrush for alot of snakes..:)
Rare mitsugirly Posted February 18, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Didn't see any snakes while we were tubing. I know this question has came up multiple times on here and with me reading most replies...most have not seen snakes. I believe it was also explained that with the water constantly moving, they usually don't stay in those areas, especially in the caves. Hopefully that will put you at easy. :)
monicajay Posted February 18, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 18, 2012 A few years back but we didn't see any or hear of any either.
jaburr24 Posted February 19, 2012 #9 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Towards the end of the tubing trip, they were pushing everybody to one side of the river because there was a "3 second snake" that was spotted where people were jumping off a cliff. We never saw it though
Dolphin3 Posted February 20, 2012 Author #10 Share Posted February 20, 2012 Thanks Everyone! That makes me feel so much better. I was kind of worried, but now that I have heard actual experiences from other cave tubers I can tell her honestly that she has nothing to worry about (I hope):D
