m5gg1 Posted February 11, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2012 First question do we have to report back on cruise ship if it is port for 2 days? If so is there designated times? Why do they 2 days in one port?
cruise cruise cruise Posted February 11, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2012 I can not speak from Carnival experience, but from my Princess trip, you could choose to stay on land over night in Cabo, but they kindly requested that you inform passenger services before leaving the ship if you planned not to return that evening. The reason for the 2 night stay is, Carnival, along with most other cruise lines are currently not stopping in Mazatlan, thus needing to make up for the loss of a port are choosing a 2 day Cabo port stop
Rosefloater Posted February 11, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2012 Since this is a tender port, you have to be back on the ship by a certain time on the 1st day. The ship then goes out to sea so the casino and shops can open, then comes back early the next morning. If you want to stay on shore overnight, make sure you let the ship personnel know and you take your passport just in case. There have been a few times when the ship has not been able to come back the 2nd day due to rough seas. In that case, you need to find your own transportation to the next port. Carnival seems to think that everyone loves 2 days in Cabo. Most of the people I know (including my family) don't like Cabo enough to warrant 2 days. riffatsea Posted February 11, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2012 Your ship will be anchored off shore in Cabo and you will get to the dock by riding in a tender(small boat). The tenders go back and forth all day and YES, you need to be back on board by the time that you will be told when on your ship. Some people get off and stay in a hotel on land overnight but you MUST tell the cruise ship ahead if you are planning to do this and IF it is too wavy for the tenders to run you may be out of luck ! I don't know why they stay 2 days in Cabo but some people seem to like it.
