Past Guest Party and Captain's Cocktail Party

We are sailing on the HAL Ryndam in March. Our last HAL sailing was 5 years ago on the Veendam, so details are a bit fuzzy. I'm wondering if there is a captain's cocktail party on one of the formal nights.

Also, since this is our second HAL sailing, is there a party for past guests? Also, do all past guests enjoy the benefit of lunch in the MDR upon embarkation?

Thanks for your help!

They no longer have the Mariners Cocktail Party. They have a Captain's Welcome Aboard Toast where he makes a short speech, welcomes everyone aboard and introduces some of his Officers. Captain then 'pops the cork' on a ceremonial bottle of champagne and stewards pass around tray with champagne for everyone present. It is held in the show lounge on the first formal night.

The Embarkation Lunch is not consistent cruise to cruise, ship to ship. Some ships, some cruises all Mariners can simply go to the MDR and I think the hours are maybe 12 - 1:30 P.M...... not exactly sure as we don't go.

Other times it is only for three and four star Mariners.

Sometimes there is no embarkation Mariners Lunch as the MDR might be in use for a charitable event, TA event, or some other group.

Sometimes we've been given invitation at check in and sometimes not.

ASK when you board. As you enter the ship and they scan your card ask if there is a MDR lunch. If you suspect they may not be sure, go to the dining room on your own and inquire.
