Key West vs. Grand Cayman snorkel

For those who have snorkeled in both Key West and Grand Cayman, which would you choose? So many options and so little time!:D

As a Key West local, I recommend Grand Cayman. Key West's best snorkling (Looe Key Reef) is 25-30 miles up the Keys and none of the Key West excursions go there. For what is accessible during the short time cruise ships are in port, Grand Cayman is better.

Key West is ok in places, but GC is very good no matter where you go and the water is MUCH clearer in my opinion.

ummmmm

NO

if the weather is 'bad' you can find terrible conditions any/every where

I would always plan on GC being better, but it is NOT a sure thing . . . .

visiting Cayman and the various Car' islands frequently since 1986

El Capitain... The OP didnt ask about WHAT IF the weather is bad....etc. They asked where the snorkeling is better, and I would bet 85% of the people asked would say GC. I have snorkeled both several times and I have also snorkeled right off Grapevine Beach and saw some of the biggest parrot fish ever there. I LOVE KW, but not for its snorkeling...sorry
