mpk218 Posted March 3, 2012 #476 Share Posted March 3, 2012 And , conventions are huge down there. Check the chamber of commerce. I had a similar trip and could not figure out what the hotel/airfare problem was. Well it was 40,000 dentist's coming in for one long weekend. ;)
mbisson Posted March 3, 2012 #477 Share Posted March 3, 2012 LOL-maybe, but not if you don't want to miss the ship Isn't that the whole deal with NCL in the first place? The rebellious fish swimming in the other direction?

ace6636634 Posted March 3, 2012 #479 Share Posted March 3, 2012 Not only were 50% of her previous posts complaints, but she ended one by warning about possible unpleasantness if taking a cruise during Spring Break. She said she had purposely booked a week later to avoid it! I find it interesting, to say the least, that she would have been aware of Spring Break but not Mardi Gras... In one of her posts she talks about going on the cruise..... something smells fishy

luddite Posted March 3, 2012 #481 Share Posted March 3, 2012 So I know where New Orleans is and I know they have a big party called Mardi Gras But to be honest I thought it was a bunch of people partying on Bourbon street after a parade. I didnt know it shut down the city. I would think it was confined to a certain section and there should be away to drive around it.Ii would never think it would take 5 hours to drive across a city. Mardis Gras in NOLA is a big deal and it spills over to surrounding towns. The weekend before Fat Tuesday is singular. It really cannot be compared to anything else. Lots of people are trying to get downtown. These are parades that erect bleachers and sell tickets for same. Add a rescheduled parade to the mix along with the 2 cruise ships on that day and there are a lot more people. We saw a car wreck on the elevated Interstate near downtown and then drove past a 6-mile standstill on the Interstate. A five-hour traffic cluster #$%^ isn't at all unreasonable. bayclub Posted March 3, 2012 #482 Share Posted March 3, 2012 Sorry to hear about your experience. I don't suppose you took out travele insurance? But in any event, you should get in touch with the other people who missed the cruise and file a letter with the State's Attorney General or BBB or even more so, post it on FACEBOOK. Did you pay with a credit card? If so, maybe you can get some results there. Good luck. I traveled on the EPIC for the first time with NCL and would rate it a 3 out of 5 at the very best. Everyone has a different experience:p
ryty44 Posted March 3, 2012 #483 Share Posted March 3, 2012 Interesting that once the cruise is completed and they have an issue, they were able find Cruise Critic in order to post their complaints. Just saying. My thought on that matter is that they probably are regular users of Cruise Critic but when they want to complain loudly they create another profile to further hide their identity. Isn't the internet fun. They were once telephone tough guys....now they are keyboard tough guys... Yesterday, my husband and I had a long drive. For a good three hours I entertained him by reading posts. I love cruise critic but gosh, there are some brutal posts out there. I am a huge fan of NCL, in fact they are the only cruise line I care to use. I enjoy the staff, the entertainment, the freestyle concept, their competitive pricing, their casino and the convenience of their port location in comparison.to my house, but I would never dare post that I found their food (except in the specialty restaurant's) to be a little lacking because I know I will rock the boat. Uh-oh now I've said it..and I do realize it just a matter of preference and I know I'm in the minority :)
Cmdr Cody Posted March 3, 2012 #484 Share Posted March 3, 2012 NCL ...fans... WILL chime in when some dipstick comes here and says "NCL food is inedible!" End this already.
Rare sparks1093 Posted March 3, 2012 #485 Share Posted March 3, 2012 Has the OP ever come back to the thread? To the best of my knowledge no, they did start a similar one that is no longer around.
