Rescue at Sea

Roxburgh

Recommended Posts

Seabourn Odyssey rescues three men from a small boat. We/they were 70 miles from the nearest land. According to the Captain they had been out for three weeks and had no water and food and, presumably, gas. The three have been taken on board and their boat left to drift.

Odyssey is on her way from Suva, Fiji to Pago Pago.

Charles --

Thanks for the great photos and the news clips. Being on the port side, we saw none of the rescue. Talked to someone on deck late this afternoon who had learned from Nick that the Odyssey has the best radar equipment available ... Which might explain why other cruise ships in the area area during the past week did not see these drifting sailors. According to a guy on the local Pago Pago bus we took this morning across the island, there have been several cruise ships in port recently.
