blossom52 Posted March 3, 2012 #27 Share Posted March 3, 2012 "phew" Yes indeed, I really didn't know that you needed a different cover for a cruise, I guess it's in case you need to get 'choppered off'. I guess that would be expensive.........
kruzseeka Posted March 3, 2012 #28 Share Posted March 3, 2012 We have annual WW travel insurance but have only just realised they don't cover you for a cruise!!!! I just thought we would be covered for it, lucky we didn't need to claim............... When you say WW travel insurance do you mean 'World Wide' or is that the firm, blossom? If it's not the company name then who is your insurer as I'd better be sure mine isn't the same!

I truely didn't know and I suspect many others will be in the same boat (pun intended!!!)

carol53 Posted March 4, 2012 #33 Share Posted March 4, 2012 Just checked our policy and it was not clear from the paperwork so telephoned Insure & Go to check. They said that all their annual policies do cover cruises as standard. Luckily we don't have to get an additional policy etc C & J
kruzseeka Posted March 4, 2012 #34 Share Posted March 4, 2012 Just checked ours too! Have you any idea blossom how many people you have now got throughout the country spending their Sunday morning checking their travel insurance? Wonder if the insurance companies have noticed an increase of enquiries asking if cruises are covered! :D:D Anyway, pleased to say mine looks ok too - it says something to the effect 'any type of holiday taken for pleasure...........' Well, it's certainly very pleasurable so I'll assume that includes cruises! ;) Thanks for flagging it up bloosm - better to find out before you travel than in the middle of a trauma when you may need to make a claim - you'll be in enough of a state anyway and don't need the additional stress of your insurers opting out!
davetrucker Posted March 6, 2012 #35 Share Posted March 6, 2012 My husband has several pre existing conditions and a couple of years ago we nearly gave up trying to get insurance but finally found a company that gave a very fair quote and have been with them ever since - company is called World First - they do have a web site but can't remember the web address but I'm sure it will come up if you google it. I have just had a op on my legand was waiting for the consultant to say it was fine to fly which he as done .contacted my insurance and was told 6 days ago would to go before the medical .Still waiting so I contacted different companies and got silly prices the dearest £1900 So I saw your thread and contacted World First .Yes they covered my leg and luggage loss for just over £
NorthWalesCouple Posted March 7, 2012 Author #36 Share Posted March 7, 2012 Think i opened a small can of worms with this one but in a way i,m glad i did ask about covering Cruises when i took it out and the OH is covered no problem. Must admit i think we all should make sure we have the best we can afford as insurance goes. Imagine the costs without it.
