TampaBayGirl Posted February 24, 2012 Author #51 Share Posted February 24, 2012 I am totally dumbfounded by these pictures. I would of been furious. I realize that it needs to be done, but they could at least give you notice. I know - right?! We were horrified. Imagine going back to your cabin and seeing a crew member in FULL HAZMAT SUIT leaving your cabin. We were terrified! That in itself was a little scarring - not to mention the toxic spray everywhere. Again - I am very happy that RCI takes precaution against pests. It would be even worse if we had bed bugs in our cabin. But, they leave notices for everything else (parties, art auctions, casino functions, etc). Perhaps they can institute a better communication system between departments and guests. It freaks me out all over again thinking about it too much. Ekkk!
Andrew Bowden Posted February 24, 2012 #52 Share Posted February 24, 2012 Thanks so much for the great pics and review. We will be on the Jewel for Thanksgiving and Christmas. After seeing your photos the wait will seem even longer.
Rare BillOh Posted February 24, 2012 #53 Share Posted February 24, 2012 Yes - it was hot.I couldn't tell you the exact temperature. But, the hot tub was hot enough that people would sit up on the edge and keep their ankles in just to finish a conversation but it was too hot to stay fully inside (if that makes sense). :) That's good enough thanks. If it felt hot most likely it was 101 at least. Anything 99 or below just feels tepid.
Rare BillOh Posted February 24, 2012 #54 Share Posted February 24, 2012 I think this is the first report I have read where the Solarium Roof was opened. Thanks for the review. I missed that, hoping for an open Solarium in April, weather permitting.
barbienj Posted February 24, 2012 #55 Share Posted February 24, 2012 Great review. I was on the Jewel January 29. The solarium was my favorite place also...

They do send around notices for everything including when they are going to wash the windows/balconies. Seems to me this rates so much higher than window washing. Also I can't believe this ship sails full every sailing, and you would think that when a room needs to be sprayed they would simply leave that cabin empty for that sailing so as not to inconvenience/freak out its current occupants. Kudos to you. BOOO to RCCL.
pam_1024 Posted February 24, 2012 #57 Share Posted February 24, 2012 As usual, the love and marriage show is very cute. But, if you miss it live in the theater - you can always catch the replay on a loop on RCTV station in your stateroom. We've been to Cozumel more times than we can count. But I always enjoy a visit to Sally Hurwitch. She's a massage therapist on the island who practices Ashiatsu massage. It's a divine, incredible experience. http://www.barefootincozumel.com/ Keep an eye out for the Black Forest Cake. It was a small line item on the daily cruise compass. It was served on a sea day in the Windjammer. YUM! Behold the glory of the black forest cake. we were on the JOS for Thanksgiving and that cake was unreal! Pictures just don't do justice as to how huge that thing was! And delicious! Wish I had gotten a picture of it before they started serving it, but it was about 1/4 gone when we got there. I didn't even notice it in the Cruise Compass. We were just going in for something to eat. :)

tdmullins Posted January 17, 2013 #63 Share Posted January 17, 2013 Great Review! I have been trying to read everything Jewel I can since I sail her in May. Like someone else said, first review I have seen the solarium roof open. It's also the first time I have seen the Black Forest cake. It has been written in my "trip notes". Some of the pictures are not showing for me either. Which is a bummer because I loved all of the ones I could see.
