Did anyone get typhoid or other vaccinations for Asia?

I prefer picaridin to DEET repellents. It works just as well against mosquitoes and ticks. It doesn't feel greasy and has little odor.

Spray your clothing at home! My husband does this every summer for his underwear & socks (we have ticks and he's in the woods a LOT, and in some unpleasant spots for work) The spray lasts through a bunch of washings, too, so he does it at the beginning of the summer and about midway. But it can be a little stinky - he hangs everything on a clothesline outside on a calm day, sprays and lets it dry and air a little before bringing the clothing back inside.

The doctors in the Sri Lanka hospital knew a lot more about typhoid than my doctor at home. I doubt if he's ever seen a case.

If you plan on using products with DEET in them, please do a trial run before you are on vacation. Take a day while still at home and put the product on your skin, wear it around all day, and see how you do. Some people can have a skin reaction to DEET products, and vacation time is not when you want to find this out.

So true for ALL drugs, lotions, products, SHOES, bras.... I never travel with something I haven't tried at home first (and, for shoes, well worn in 😉
