Cosmic Rays Posted February 25, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2012 We will be on our third trip to St Lucia in three weeks. On our two previous visits we have been on tours which we enjoyed. This time we want to chill on our own and go to a beach fairly close to Castries perhaps on a bus or on foot although it is a Sunday. Some beach reviews question the security particularly Vigie. Any suggestions please will be appreciated.
reedprincess Posted February 26, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2012 vigie is a perfectly safe beach and on a sunday, will have lots of families and folks out enjoying the day. There are some food shacks on the beach for eats and drinks - very local eats and drinks though, not actual restaurant with seating, etc. Lots of shade under the trees, no chairs and umbrellas to rent, just put your towel down and enjoy. It is about 20-30 minutes walk from the different ports. Another option would be Reduit Beach - about 20 minutes by taxi with lots of chairns and umbrellas to rent, water sports for hire, lots of restaurants and bars, etc. Choc beach is about 15 minutes, no chairs/umbrellas to rent, again will have lots of folks on the beach on a Sunday - less in the way of eats and drinks - and shade. Long stretch of beach though. Also will be harder to get a taxi back - you may have to walk over to the Sandals and have them hail a cab (from the front of the resort of course!) Enjoy your visit. Cosmic Rays Posted February 27, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted February 27, 2012 Thanks Reedprincess. What is the easiest way to walk from the ship please to Vigie Beach from the cruise ship terminal? reedprincess Posted February 27, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 27, 2012 there is only one way to walk there - along the highway. Depending on which dock you are at will determine whether it is 20 or 30 minutes walk. From Pointe Seraphone, head out from the port towards the highway (there's only one way to go) Once you get to the Texaco station on the corner of the highway and the road to PS, turn left, follow it till you get to the fence for the airport, turn right, follow the runway to the end and then loop around then end of the runway and head back down till you get to a spot that looks good to you! The food shacks and such are more down near the entrance to the airport. You cna always run across the street and use the facilities at the airport. If at La Place Caranage - go out from the port, turn left, follow the highway around past the craft markets, along the waterfront and you will come to the Texaco station - same directions from there. Pretty much impossible to miss. Enjoy your visit!

reedprincess Posted May 10, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 10, 2014 Hi- Which Sandals is Coch beach near? How far is Sandals from Coch beach? I want to go here, but am concerned about the taxis. Thanks, Ann There is no "Coch" beach. There is Anse Cochon, which is the beach where Ti Kaye resort is located, however there are no Sandals located near there. There is also Choc Beach, which is the same stretch of beach where Sandals Halcyon is located, about 15-20 minutes from the port. Hope that helps!
