Post Cruise Vancover to Victoria and BAck

PCL has a tour where you get off boat, ferry to Victoria,only spend 1 hr at garden, go to Empress, you do have all night and next morning there, ferry back to Vancouver and have the next 2 nights in Vancouver before coach to airport.Could a person easily go to Vancouver post cruise and then go on own next day to Victoria from hotel in Vancouver? Is it a hassle ? How far is ferry from Vancouver downtown to Victoria?

Yes, it's not particularly tough, but schedule 4½ hrs ea way. The ferry to Victoria leaves from 40 minutes (37km) south of downtown vancouver and arrives 30 minutes (32km) north of Victoria. Of course if you can schedule your final flight home out of Victoria/YYJ instead of Vancouver you can save yourself one ferry trip. By the time you add up to/from terminal, getting there before the sailing, load/unload and then getting downtown that's 4½ hrs, but it's a beautiful journey.

 

From downtown Vancouver to Victoria, there's either the coach line (from Pacific Train station, corner of Main & Terminal), or you can take the Skytrain (subway) out of downtown to Bridgeport station, and transfer to the #620 bus which runs straight to the ferry terminal. On the victoria side , the #70 runs from Swartz Bay ferry terminal to downtown.

 

From downtown, there's not much in it for timing, but you save a fair bit of $ (works out to ½ the price) by taking your luggage yourself on the bus/skytrain.
