galelynn Posted April 21, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2005 DH is looking forward to diving in Bonaire when we cruise there in November. Since we don't arrive till 12 noon and leave at 7pm, can anyone recommend a dive shop and what the requirements are for diving? DH is certified from Padi. :)
m steve Posted April 22, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2005 PADI card is fine. There usually is 2 dives per day from several hotels. I would contact Flamingo or Dive Inn for an afternoon dive. They have terrific trips and dive masters and are a short cab ride from the pier. Diving is relatively cheap on Bonaire. There really isn't much else to do. Capt. Don's is a lot further out of town and the Flamingo has a nice beach, restaurant-bar and a casino. I think Peter Hughes still runs that operation. DiveCruiser Posted July 24, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 24, 2005 Actually Peter Hughs is in the Divi Flamingo in name only. You can walk to the Dive Inn of the Divi Flamingo. Both have a nice operation. If you do the Divi say hi to Orlando one of the captians. Bob
muggo11 Posted July 31, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2005 After our cruise we spent a week at the Dive-In (easily walkable from the pier). You can actually dive right from their front door but with over a hundred dive sites, you might also arrange for them to take you somewhere a little further north. Babs runs the place and Roger was our diving guide. a boat is NOT necessary for many fine snorkeling and diving experiences in Bonaire.
