· Mendenhal -- the 5 dollar shuttles that run every 1/2 hour from the cruise dock to Mendenhal. The ride to Mendenhal is about 20 min.

· Mt. Roberts Tramway (490 S. Franklin Street) whisks travelers up to a 1,800-foot high station on Mt. Roberts. The Tram is only a few steps from the cruise dock.

· The Red Dog Saloon (278 S. Franklin) is a kitschy wild western-nostalgia bar that comes complete with sawdust floors, mounted wildlife and swinging doors. There's usually entertainment when cruise ships are in port.

You may want to consider in Skagway- instead do the horse back riding out of Carcross with Joni via Southeast tours. I have never heard much anything good about the Skagway riding, with Joni getting consistant raves. You also get much farther and can also say you were in the Yukon. :) For clarfication- see if Coastal will drop you off at Mendenhall, you will be adding at least an HOUR in shuttle time, and probably more since it is unlikely you won't have to wait. A cab would also save time. My opinion only, I never recommend the Tundra Wilderness tour for any independent travelers. The shuttle is superior going to Fish Creek and a far better buy at - $33.75 pp.
