Airline question

I am looking to book a flight from Atlanta to either Miami or Fort Lauderdale. Has anyone flown Spirit airlines? I never have and they seem to be the cheapest. I'd love to save but am willing to pay more to fly airlines I'm familiar with if Spirit isn't good with service & comfort.

Spirit is a basic no frills airline... Be prepared to pay for baggage, and carry-on baggage as well. No free snacks or beverages... Nothing.

 

It's a nice cheap flight, but everything is an additional fee.

Thanks! It sounds like with what I'd save on Spirit but pay for bags I'd come out cheaper on Airtran.

I'd be nervous that they might not be in business for long -Direct Air another low low cost carrier cancelled all their flights yesterday here in Buffalo. Also, these small carriers don't have many planes, so a weather or mechanical issue could set you back over a day or more.

Had a great experience on Spirit a few years ago. Flights were on time and we did receive beverages and snacks.

As part of the decision process, keep in mind that Miami airport is much closer to the cruise terminal. MIA is a wild airport, but a 10-15 minute cab ride for $15 sure makes it easier.

Would echo last comment that flying to airport nearest your cruise port will save $$ and time in the long run ie. cab to Miami port to FLL will be 60 dollars more each way than flying into Miami and vice versa.

MIA to Port of Miami is fixed at $24 for up to four people.
