Morningstar vs. Sapphire

Hi,

Can anyone who has been to both beaches give me some input? We have been to Sapphire and love it but we are looking to stay closer to the ship because there are a lot of ships in port that day. How is Morningstar?

I did a search but the only response I saw was from 2009. Anyone been to Morningstar recently?

Thanks so much!

Was there a few months ago, and will be going again soon to take more photos.

It's completely different from Sapphire. It's a large resort on a beach. The water is usually rougher than some other beaches on St Thomas, but the amenities are very nice. I like taking the ferry from town over to the property, but the beach isn't close to the ferry dock.

Since I was there in the off-season for a skimboarding competition, I can't tell you yet how crowded it might be in season until next week.

Stay tuned for my full report!

We just spent a week at the Marriott, and Morningstar Beach is lovely. Yes it is a little rocky - any beach that has decent snorkeling will have some rocks. There is very good snorkeling to either side of the bay along the reef- we have even seen a barracuda. Chair/umbrella rental is $15 for non - guests. THe beach is public so if you just want to lay out your towel there is no charge. It should only be a $6.00 taxi ride - make sure you tell the driver that you want to go to Morningstar - the Marriott has 3 different sections - Frenchman's where the big pool and multiple restaurants are - then Morningstar - which is the beach - there is a restaurant and pool down there as well. And then there are condos as well. Good snorkeling on this beach as well, but they do not rent chairs here - they have to let people in to the beach since all of the beaches are free. All of these properties are connected by walkway paths.
