sstrong Posted March 16, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2012 Anyone with more experience feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe the only perk is more space. And maybe the location of your cabin too?
johnql Posted March 16, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2012 That's correct - no perks that are available only to full suites. The mini-suites can best be classified as deluxe balconies. Compared to a balcony, the mini-suite has more space, more storage space, a longer couch, a tub instead of a shower alone, and a thick curtain that can be used to divide the sitting area from the sleeping area to create added privacy. radzer0 Posted March 16, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 16, 2012 No other perks ive seen. Its why i paid the little bit extra for a SJ and recieved the massive OBC to offset the difference.
KEPE Posted March 16, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 16, 2012 the description for the midship mini on the breakaway doesn't say tub. Do you think it's just a misprint or they don't have one?
sdmike Posted March 16, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 16, 2012 (edited) the description for the midship mini on the breakaway doesn't say tub. Do you think it's just a misprint or they don't have one? It depends on the ship. Jewel class mini-suites have a tub if I'm not mistaken. About half of Epic mini-suites have tubs, the rest have larger showers. I'm not sure we know much about the Breakaway bathrooms yet. From the renderings we've seen there is no tub. fergusonvt Posted March 16, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 16, 2012 (edited) Mini on the Sun had a tub. Another difference was the heavy curtains separating the bed from the sofa. Edited March 16, 2012 by fergusonvt

bluesea777 Posted March 16, 2012 #15 Share Posted March 16, 2012 (edited) The mini-suites on some ships (esp the Jewel class ones (Jewel, Jade, Pearl and Gem)) are on deck 11 - under the garden cafe/restaurant/pool deck 12. A bad deck for the mini-suite and one has to be careful when booking that - make sure the mini-suite cabin isn't directly under the area most likely to be noisy. By all means, avoid completely the ones that are directly below the public toilets! Mini-suites are nice if the cruise is a long one, otherwise we prefer a cabin that is sandwiched between cabin decks. The family mini suites on the Breakaway will have tubs. From NCL's website: These Mini-Suites sleep up to four guests and are perfect if you’re traveling with the kids. They’re just a hop, skip and a jump away from our youth and kids’ area and they have the added convenience of a sofa bed and a bathtub. Parents get to enjoy a king-size bed. Hang out with the gang and enjoy the view from your own private balcony. There are also many connecting staterooms.

rosey1946 Posted March 16, 2012 #20 Share Posted March 16, 2012 Had a mini-suite on the Gem. Got it for free as an upgrade from a balcony. Lots of extra room and a tub. Loved it-but no other perks. We have the services of the concierge but that's because we are platinum. If you book one with 3 or 4 people, well worth the extra money.
umpy10 Posted March 17, 2012 #21 Share Posted March 17, 2012 I have mentioned this on other posts concerning "perks" for mini-suites, and only while we were on the Sun. Reg. Balcony's and lower berths have only 24 reservations for specialty restaurants. But in the Mini-Suites and above categories have 48 hr. reservation privileges. That was as of our Oct. cruise. Have not seen or read anywhere of any changes to the above so will assume that nothing has changed. If anyone knows different, please let us know. cheers...the Ump...:D
valleyvillage Posted March 17, 2012 #22 Share Posted March 17, 2012 (edited) The Sun has a different layout for their minisuites. We were totally spoiled by the bathroom layout, much nicer than the other ships. When we sailed her we had a special room service menu. Later we were told that since the Sun has very few mini suites compared to other ships they were able to do that. I understand that this perk has since gone the way of the concierge. Fun while it lasted! We got addicted to the "Scandinavian Sandwiches" and asked for them on the Star when we were in that mini. They were not on any room service menu on that ship, but they managed to whip us up a plate of them. That was when the Minis still had concierge service.
