Q on Marriot Resort & Stellaris Casino in San Juan

Recommended Posts

I've replied to a few threads about San Juan hotels or the Adventure of the Seas but have not received any response about this hotel. Has anyone stayed here? What is your review of the hotel, where are places around there to shop, visit, etc, and what restaurants are close and good?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Vickie:

My family and I will also be staying at the Marriott in July. A good website for reading reviews on this hotel (and many others) is "www.tripadvisor.com".

Hope you enjoy

Mike

I stayed there a long, long time ago. I remember watching the planes fly over us at the pool. The hotel and rooms were nice. My husband travels to San Juan on business all the time and says its about a 15- 20 minute ride to pier from airport.

There is another Marriott 1 mile west of the airport so perhaps that's where planes fly over the pool?? We've stayed at the hotel you are asking about twice, the most recent this past December. Although you could see planes coming in over the ocean, they never were overhead. This hotel is 15 - 20 minutes from the airport in the Condado area. There are tons of restaurants within walking distance and the hotel itself was great.

The beds are sooo comfortable, so comfortable in fact that we purchased the "Marriott bed" from the Jamison bedding company as a result of staying there. They have breakfast included in the price, which is really nice.

It's about a 10 minute ride to the ship terminal from the hotel. If you have any additional questions let me know. I've recommended this hotel to others and they loved it.

My friends stayed there last sept. and loved it. I was supposed to stay at the Courtyard by Marriott (right next to the airport) after but the place was not very nice. Not clean, nasty staff. I am a Platinum Marriott member and they realy treated me poorly. So bad in fact that we left. The girl at the desk actually shouted my entire name across the lobby to another assoicate. Major viloation of company policy, not to mention bad for security reasons.

We would have moved to the full service but they were full at the time I believe. Good luck

We've stayed there prior to our last 4 cruises out of San Juan. We love this hotel ! It is right on a nice sandy beach. There is a huge pool. Very lively bar in the middle of the enormous lobby, with live entertainment.

They have a great breakfast buffet (we always pay the rate that includes it) and a Saturday night prime rib dinner. There are excellent restaurants within walking distance as well. We like to go two nights ahead of the cruise in order to enjoy San Juan and this hotel a little more. I only remember seeing planes in the distance.

Taxi fare from this hotel to the Pan-American pier (where Adventure docks) is about $12.

The hotel is my favorite of all places I've stayed. We were there last year and there is much to do and see within walking distance. The pool/bar is really nice and the beach wasn't crowded at all.

We had an ocean/pool view which was spectacular. There was a liquor store/ deli right on the same side of the street and a Walgreens on the other side. It was great for picking up the things we "forgot." (Band Aids and nail polish remover) Walgreens had some really cute (cheap) Puerto Rico souveniers as well.

Casino took our money!!!!

We're looking forward to going back again...soon.

We have stayed at the Stellaris and love it. As a matter of fact, we are going to stay there again in November for our Constellation cruise. I love the pool area and the entertainment at night. The casino is nice too. One point of information, there is going to be construction to the outside of the hotel from May thru November. That might make a difference to you. It's not a long cab ride to the Pan Am pier and there are many restaurants in the neighborhood.

Hey.

husband and i got home from san juan cruise end of Feb (2005) and stayed at Stelaris (not sure about spelling) Marriott. We enjoied it and am trying to do another southern caribbean cruise out of san juan and will try to stay there again. Nice view, great pool, staff was great to us. The restaurant was expensive ($30 a person for dinner) for buffet...but must say the food was awesome! The beach was there and colors were gorgeous but dont think it would be a good swimming beach. It was awful windy while we were there (dont know if that is a constant). I see the prices on their website were $350 a night for ocean view balcony for the dates when we wanted to stay but we turned in VISA points for free nights stay including breakfast.

I wouldnt have paid $350 a night but if i could find it on a discount travel web site I would love to stay again.

Its in a artsy kind of district. There is a Subway and Pizza hut (if i recall correctly) just around the corner along with an walgreens (for last minute items you forget) and a starbucks across the road from main entrance of hotel.

Hotel is located about in between airport and cruise port.

Any other questions let me know and i'll see what i can remember.
